These printers give users a number of
new possibilities particularly for mock-up
and proof printing, such as the ability to
print white first and then CMYK for more
vivid colours, to print white lettering on
coloured card and to print clear toner
over foil.
Having the capability to print a fifth
colour has clear benefits for commercial
printers who can now provide a wider
array of printed material on demand. The
Pro9000 Series is also a way for traditional
printers to explore the digital printing
market without the large up-front cost
of a high-end machine. For businesses of
all sizes, the ability to produce mock-
ups, proofs and short-runs of packaging,
vouchers and eye-catching marketing
material in-house, without the need for
skilled operators, saves time and cost,
whilst also supporting creativity and
imagination.
OKI Systems UK marketing manager
Andrew Hall says the Pro9000 series
has been received exceptionally well,
particularly by commercial printers wanting
to supplement their litho proposition with
an entry-level digital device. He describes
the series as “a true business-in-a-box
solution for any business wanting to add
new revenue streams”.
In 2016, OKI made a number of major
enhancements to the Pro9000 Series,
notably increased toner capacity resulting
in a lower cost of ownership, and plans
to enhance its proposition further this
year. “We will continue to look at value
added add-ons, such as the banner feeder,
straight shooter and other finishing
equipment,” explained Hall.

What really sets
these printers
apart, however,
is innovative
OKI technology
In the last few years, OKI has
intentionally moved into the
Graphics Arts market with the
acquisition of Seiko’s wide format
business and the introduction of
a new sub-brand for graphics arts
devices.
The Pro9000 Series of Graphics Arts
printers is ideal for light production and
graphic arts use, with high resolution
printing of up to 1200dpi and versatile
media handling, including support for
media sizes up to SRA3, weights of up to
360gsm (320gsm duplex) and a broad
range of substrates, from gloss paper,
waterproof paper, plastics and film to
banners up to 1.3 metres long.
What really sets these printers apart,
however, is innovative OKI technology,
used in two of the machines, which adds
a fifth colour to standard CMYK process
colours. The Pro9541dn has the option of
a swappable white or clear toner cartridge
for spot colour applied after CMYK, while
the Pro9542dn offers CMYK plus white
toners.
