WHAT’S NEW
More choice from DSales (UK)
DSales (UK) has launched two new
high speed devices, the Develop ineo 758 and
an enhanced version of the company’s flagship
mono production print system, the ineo
1250e. The ineo 758 is a 75ppm mono MFP
for high-volume office use that also features a
120 pages (240 images) colour scanner.
It has a paper capacity of up to 6,650 sheets,
support for paper sizes up to SRA3 and an
80-page booklet maker. The 125ppm ineo
1250 is designed for commercial print and
in-plant users with average monthly volumes
of 400,000 to 750,000 pages. The enhanced
ineo 1250e has a greater choice of inline
finishing options including the SD-513
finishing unit, offering creasing, three-edge
trimming and spine corner forming.
Augmented reality fiver
The Bank of England has enlisted the
help of augmented reality app Blippar to
promote the new £5 note, due to enter
circulation in September. The public is
being invited to download the free Blippar
app to their smartphone and ‘blipp’ (scan)
any Bank of England banknote to see the
new fiver – the UK’s first polymer banknote
– on-screen. People can take selfies of
themselves with the new note, watch video
content and find out more about its security features.
Mobile
printing
app
Cartridge World has launched
a mobile printing app and
announced plans to create
a network of public print
stations in conjunction with
Samsung. The PrintWorld app,
initially available in the US,
gives consumers the ability
to print and scan from/to a
smartphone, tablet or laptop
when away from the office.
In the future, mobile workers
will be able to use the app
to make use of thousands
of printers placed by
Cartridgeworld and Samsung
in rail/bus stations, retail
outlets, shopping malls and
educational establishments
across the US and then
globally. Cartridge World has
400 stores in North America
and over 1,000 worldwide. It
plans to open an additional
3,000 stores by 2019.
Better performance
HP has introduced new
software to help IT managers
make their print environment
more mobile, secure and
productive. New offerings
include mobile print solutions
that simplify printing from
mobile devices to printers
on a corporate network (HP
JetAdvantage Connect); a
low-cost standalone secure
print solution (HP Access
Control Secure Pull Print);
and business intelligence
tools that help HP MPS
customers optimise printer
fleet performance (HP Device
Control Center and HP Instant
Fleet Insights).
Direct
access to Fiery
Command Station
Sharp is launching the first light production
mono printers to provide direct access to Fiery
Command WorkStation, giving print room operators complete
control of their workflows through one easy-to-use interface.
The MX-M1205 (120ppm) and MX-M1055 (105ppm) include
a One-Touch Fiery Gateway Key, which brings users straight to
the Command WorkStation, eliminating the need for additional
hardware. Productivity features include a customisable 15.4”
LCD touchscreen; the ability to change toner without interrupting
a print job; full-front access for easy maintenance; a Remote
Access Front Panel; and a choice of finishing options including
saddle stitching, stapling, GBC SmartPunch and Booklet Maker.
Kodak paper
Printer cartridge
remanufacturer Jet Tec has
added Kodak photo paper
to its product portfolio.
Complementing the
company’s inkjet cartridge
offering, the photo paper
range includes a choice of
sizes and specialist media,
including magnetic photo paper.
Print management
for all
Printix, which was set up
by co-founders of print
management specialist
Safecom, has introduced a
premium cloud-based print
management specialist
for SMEs. Printix Freedom
enables users to print to
any network printer from
any device, with a secure
print feature for releasing
confidential documents from
mobiles. Printix says its
solution can be deployed in
a matter of minutes, with
no need to install vendor-
specific software, proprietary
drivers or ID card readers.
With everything managed
securely in the Printix
cloud, there is also no need
for a print or application
server. Earlier this year,
Printix launched a freeware
solution, Printix Zero, for
automating the management
of local print servers and
print drivers.
