Lexacom 3, a digital dictation and
workflow management system, helps
businesses improve efficiency and
accuracy by enabling users to dictate
and transcribe documents with ease.
Lexacom 3 can be tailored for any
healthcare, legal or professional service,
and is the only solution approved for use
with all of the UK’s primary care clinical
systems. It also helps GPs and their
secretaries improve patient care.
Lexacom has three integrated modules:
Talk for authors; Type for secretaries/
transcribers; and Management & Reporting
for practice managers.
A clinician, for example, can easily
record dictations at their desktop with
Lexacom Talk or on-the-go with a
smartphone/tablet and the Lexacom
Mobile app. Files can then be sent to
a secretary/transcriber to transcribe
with Lexacom Type. The Management &
Reporting module allows a business to
monitor turnaround times and identify
trends.
The software also integrates with
third party Outsourced Transcription
services (provided by trusted partners) and
Docmail’s Print to Post services.
James Morriss, head of sales and
marketing, says the last 12 months have
been very successful for Lexacom, with
significant growth in the healthcare and
legal sectors driven in part by regular
software developments and updates.
“Our in-house development team
continually works on the Lexacom platform
so that software updates are made on a
regular basis. We have added a significant
number of new functional components
to our platform, giving customers great
control over template management and
integration with other systems,” he said.
Integrated speech recognition
The most important development in 2016
was Lexacom Echo, a speech recognition
solution available to anyone using Lexacom
3. Designed to remove barriers that have
limited take-up of speech recognition in
the past, Lexacom Echo offers complete
flexibility, with innovative pricing and no
need for upfront investment or expensive
PC hardware.
Lexacom Echo offers two dictation
modes: deferred Speech Recognition via
Lexacom 3 and, at the touch of a button,
direct ‘live’ Speech Recognition compatible
with any third party software.
Customers have a choice of paying
a monthly subscription for unlimited use
of the service or a Pay As You Go option,
where they only pay for what they use,
with no minimum term, no prepayment
and no charge for correcting errors.
James says Lexacom Echo has been
met with a great deal of enthusiasm by
both new and existing customers, including
Cathy Slattery, practice manager at The
Hall Practice. She said: “The combination
of using Lexacom 3 and Lexacom Echo is
excellent and a vast improvement on our
previous digital dictation system. It’s been
good to find a system that can be tailored
to suit all our needs.”
James adds that Lexacom has plans
to develop the software further in 2017.
“We will be focusing a great deal of
effort on enhancing our cross-site sharing
capabilities and the use of mobile
technology. We also plan to further develop
some of the functional capabilities of
Lexacom Echo in order to broaden its use,
not just within Lexacom but with other
third party systems.”
