Every pollution cloud has a silver lining
If one benefit comes from the
Volkswagen scandal it might
be to make politicians and
regulators take the life and
death issue of air quality
more seriously. Until they
do, people will have to take it
upon themselves to monitor and
improve the quality of the air they breathe.
There is nothing an individual can do to
improve outdoor air quality, but inside homes
and offices an air purifier can be an effective
way of removing allergens, asthma triggers,
viruses, bacteria and pollutants from the air.
New models from Blueair can be used with
innovative cloud-based ‘air sniffer’ technology
that continually monitors levels of particulate
matter (PM2.5), carbon dioxide and volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) so that you can
react in real-time to changing pollution levels.
Blueair Aware sensors connect wirelessly to
the company’s newWiFi-enabled Sense+ air
purifiers and the Blueair Friend air monitoring
app. When pollution levels are too high you
can use the app to change the Sense+ settings
remotely, ensuring that pollutants don’t build
up in your home or office while you are away.
When present, you can change settings
with a simple swipe of the hand over the
Sense+ tempered-glass surface. The innovative
user interface also includes aWi-Fi strength
indicator and filter change indicator.
Early in 2016, Blueair is launching its
revamped Classic range with Aware sensors
built-in.
Karin Kruse, Blueair global product marketing
manager, said: “Scheduled to be available in key
international markets during the first quarter
of 2016, Blueair’s new Classic air purifier will
comprise two lines, aWiFi-enabled manual
line and a second ‘intelligent’ line with the
innovative Blueair Aware clean air monitoring
technology integrated into the unit.”
She added: “Blueair’s new technologies put
people in control of the air they breathe and
make healthy living and improved wellbeing
as effortless as having a robot vacuum cleaner.
The Blueair Classic minimises triggers for people
who suffer allergies or
asthma by cleaning
indoor air of 99.97% of all
pollutants, which is great
news for our customers
and those they care for.”
The Blueair Sense app and Aware Air Quality
Monitor received Showstoppers Envisioneering
Innovation and Design Awards at last month’s
IFA 2015 consumer electronics and home
appliances show in Berlin, Germany.
