Technology Reseller - v24

01732 759725 NEWS : RESELLERS 16 Business and IT consultancy Waterstons has launched a corporate university to provide its consultants with a range of flexible learning courses covering skills such as leadership, risk management and communication. The initiative comes as the Durham- headquartered business announces the opening of an office in Sydney, to be headed up by Charlie Hales, currently head of the northern region in the UK. The Australian office will enable Waterstons to provide 24/7 support to global clients from March 2020, without the need to work nightshifts in the UK. ‘Waterstons Academy’ courses created and delivered by the company’s own people enable consultants in Glasgow, London, Durham and now Australia to update and share their skills and knowledge through blended learning methods such as face- to-face, online and distance learning, self- study and virtual reality. Heather Lawson, Learning and Development Lead at Waterstons, said: “With our team of consultants continuing to expand and our first international office opening soon, this was an opportune time to refocus our approach to employee learning and development. The blended learning approach means that the right skills and knowledge can be shared across our different offices and gives consultants ownership of their skills development.” Waterstons expects to recruit 20 new graduates, placement students and apprentices this year, before increasing its headcount to 200 in 2020. www.waterstons.com Waterstons invests in learning for consultants in UK and Australia Wakefield IT firm gets fit for next 10 years Wakefield-based IoT and cloud tech provider Solutionize Global is revamping its comms strategy with a marketing automation platform from fellow Yorkshire company Force24.
