Having a new team that’s willing to go above and beyond always has a great impact on any business. Everyone’s bursting with fresh ideas and excited to get stuck in. Where do you see the next big opportunity? IoT is where the future is heading. Years ago, we watched films that told us what the future would look like – predictions that are now our reality. Pretty much any physical object that can be connected to the internet can be transformed into an IoT device. From a kid’s fluffy toy to a self-driving truck, it’s everywhere already. What would make your day job easier? You’re always going to face hurdles – that’s business. If every day was easy, something wouldn’t be right. Learning how to overcome these obstacles is the important bit, for the business and your personal development. However, since you asked, having a PA would be AMAZING! What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? People buy from people, so always remember that relationships are a huge part of business. If an individual likes you and gets along with you, they’re more likely to buy from you – or at least keep you in mind for future opportunities. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? I’m trying to learn not to regret things in life that I cannot change or do anything about. I evaluate past decisions to make sure I don’t make the same mistakes in the future, but I wouldn’t change anything. Describe your most embarrassing moment. Whilst presenting in front of a customer, I was in full flow and lost my place for a brief second and mentioned my old company name instead of my new one… Thankfully, the person I was presenting to already knew me from a previous role so let me off. It could have been a lot worse. What was your first job? My first job was in a retail store called Petroleum, a men’s clothing shop. I worked my way up to assistant manager within three years and had a great time doing it. What would be your dream job? Right now, I’m very happy with my career and wouldn’t change anything about it. Originally, my dream job was to be a fireman, just like my uncle. That then changed to becoming a footballer, which I half pursued and made to semi- professional level. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you drive it? I love F1, so I think I’d choose to have a kit car made specially and have my own racing track in Dubai or Monaco, along with a Ferrari 458 to drive to and from the track, of course. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? I’d have to say both, if I’m allowed. Not at the same time though; that would be wrong, There’s a time and a place for both. I simply couldn’t choose. Favourite holiday destination? So far, my favourite holidays have been in New York and the Caribbean. How do you like to spend your spare time? It all depends on what mood I’m in! I like playing golf with friends – it’s a good time to unwind and reflect on my week. I still play football; for me, it’s the one thing that truly allows me to switch off from the world. Then, of course, like most people I have the odd day doing absolutely nothing other than lying on the sofa, box of chocolates in hand, bingeing on a box set.
