now, andmanyorganisationshave
already taken steps to regain control

Somehavealso implemented follow

Tactics such as these address the
printing habits of employees and are
important for reducing the financial
and environmental impact of office
printing. So, too, is one’s choice of print
device, which canhave just as big an
effect on carbon emissions.
Tounderstandwhy, you just need
to look at Sharp’s new range ofA3
monoMFPs – itsmost energy-efficient
and eco-friendly to date, and the
first to feature the company’s new
Mycrostoner-CAP toner.
Melt and fuse
Talk about toner formulations and
most people’s eyes glaze over. But for
buyers, specifiers andusers of printers
andMFPs, this arcane subject has real
Sharp’snewmid-rangemonoMFPs are itsmost energy-efficient yet
importance – andnot just because
it affects print quality. It alsohas a
direct influence on print speeds, energy
consumption and running costs.
Traditionally, toner has beenmade
with a relatively highmelting point.
This guarantees stability in diverse
environments andoperating conditions.
On the downside, it increases the
amount of power and the lengthof
time needed for a device to reach the
right temperature formelting and
fusing toner to the page.
Formanufacturers, the challenge has
always beenhow do you reduce fusing
temperatureswithout compromising
toner quality?
Sharp’s solution,Mycrostoner-
CAP, is a new formof capsule toner,
consisting of anouter shell around a
sensitive inner core.This arrangement
gives toner the protection it needs,
whilst enabling a lower fusing
temperature. In conjunctionwith a new
belt fusing system, it delivers shorter
warm-up times and lower energy
consumption for increased productivity
and reduced running costs.
Lowmelt toner is just one of the
energy-saving features of Sharp’s
new range.Others include a new
ASIC controller offering superior
performance and enhanced power
saving features; a long-life, energy-
efficientwhite LED scanner lamp; an
ECO scanningmode that stops the
fuser fromheating up if theMFP is
only needed for scanning; power on/off
scheduling; and an ECO Learningmode
that identifies usage patterns over a
four-week period and automatically
goes into power-savingmode during
regular rest periods, such as lunch
hours.
