Sustainability has been a major consideration in the development of the new range. Devices incorporate up to 19% post-consumer recycled plastics and deliver around 31% lower energy consumption compared with the previous generation. A major development is the introduction of user-replaceable components. “That’s another big thing,” Riley added. “The fuser unit is now user-replaceable, which is a first for us. We’re looking at how our machines can stay compliant in the market, and the environmental message is linked to that too.” Customers on managed print service contracts can also return toner cartridges to Brother free of charge for remanufacturing. Fully recyclable moulded-pulp packaging replaces expanded polystyrene, helping reduce waste and CO₂ emissions across the product lifecycle. Liam Fitzgerald, Head of Sales Commercial Channels at Brother UK, said the SMB segment is a major strategic focus for the business. “SMB is a key product category within the market, and we’re pretty strong in this space. We saw an increase in market share across all of our SMB colour laser products last year and an increase in unit growth, particularly in the all-inone segment. It’s a highly competitive, price-aggressive area, but we exited last year with over 20% share, and we expect that to continue to grow with this new product range.” Designed for modern SMB workflows The new devices deliver improved colour accuracy for higher quality documents, presentations and proposals, while built-in security features help reduce the risk of devicelevel data breaches. Print speeds of up to 31 pages per minute and support for multiple paper trays allow teams to turn around jobs quickly and maintain productivity during busy periods. Enhancements to colour processing and engine design also help deliver cleaner output with reduced banding and lower operating noise. Higher-yield supplies and simplified remote management tools give partners more efficient ways to manage fleets, reduce service calls and maintain predictable performance across customer sites. Dave Riley, Senior Product Specialist at Brother International Europe, said the redesign reflects how SMBs now work. “A lot has changed from the previous engine. These new products are 30% smaller, and they’ve been developed around four key pillars – usability, responsiveness, security readiness and sustainability.” The new L8000 series replaces the existing colour laser line-up and brings improved performance, lower total cost of ownership and easier fleet management for resellers serving SMB customers. The new range consists of five devices – the HL-L8430CDW, HL‑L8570CDW, DCP-L8360CDW, MFC‑L8730CDW and MFC-L8970CDW. Each model is around 30% smaller in volume than its predecessor, making them easier to position in spaceconstrained offices. A more modular design also introduces additional userreplaceable components, including the fuser unit and paper feed kit. This shift reduces service interruptions, extends device life and lowers maintenance costs, giving customers greater confidence that their printers will keep working without unnecessary downtime.
