Posca leaves its mark
DIY SOS: The Big Build has transformed a rundown
youth centre in a one-off special for the annual
Children in Need charity appeal, with a little help from
Mitsubishi Pencil Co.
The Big Build team took on their biggest project to date
with the complete refurbishment of the Norris Green Youth
Centre, a dilapidated youth facility in one of Liverpool’s
most deprived areas.
The mammoth challenge was supported by a donation
of 80 POSCA marker pens by Mitsubishi Pencil Co. to
transform a huge wall space in the centre’s recreation room.
Artists Dave Bain and Loch Ness used the POSCA
markers to create a custom woodland mural on the 5m by
12m wall in just four days. Bain said, “POSCA marker pens
worked well for this project because we had a large area to
cover in a limited time and the pens are very fuid and easy
to use.”

Prune the cut fower bill
As overheads have come under increased scrutiny, more
businesses are pruning the cut fower bill and opting
for arrangements that offer the designer look without
the price tag. Ambius who enhance buildings through
planting, artwork and scenting, has seen an increase in
demand for orchid and container plant displays as an
alternative to cut fower arrangements.

A second life for pens
BIC has announced a new sponsorship with
pioneering upcycling company TerraCycle.
The new BICWriting Instruments Brigade
programme will encourage schools and
offces across the UK to collect used pens,
markers, highlighters and other writing
instruments, in order for them to be upcycled and
re-used in a different form.
This new partnership will see BIC take over as the
sponsor of the UK-based schools that are currently
participating in the scheme. The scheme has also been
extended to all schools and offces across the UK and
BIC is encouraging as many as possible to register and
play their part in saving writing instruments that would
otherwise end up in landfll.
