Friends reinvited
Make the most of your investment in social media with a
new back-up and search tool, SocialSafe Enterprise, that
stores information from Twitter and Facebook pages (e.g.
details of friends/followers, photos and tagged photos) on
your PC. Saved data can be reviewed, searched and analysed
– using a new digital diary feature you can even review all
online activity on a specified date. Should an account be lost,
hacked or de-activated, the data can be used to re-build a
page and re-invite friends/followers. An annual subscription
to the Enterprise version costs £19.99.

Cloud storage search engine has
universal appeal
Do you struggle to manage all your files, documents,
emails, photos, videos, music and social content spread
over numerous devices, web services and social media
sites, all with separate log-ins and passwords? If you do,
ZeroPC2.0 could be just the thing for you.
This free ‘content navigator for the cloud’ makes cross-
platform content accessible from a browser and easy to
search, edit, move, share and backup – all from one place
with one login.
The universal search engine lets you search files, folders,
documents, photos, videos, music and hard-to-find social
content (including friends’ content) stored in popular sites
such as Box.net, Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Flickr, Google
Docs, Instagram, Picasa and SugarSync.
Without leaving ZeroPC, you can select and view
content from its original site, edit, move, share or backup
single folders, or do a comprehensive backup. ZeroPC2.0
provides users with 1GB of free general cloud storage,
plus up to 59GB of integrated access from popular cloud
storage services. Paid users can create one-time or recurring
backups of their cloud content and can easily restore
content.
ZeroPC2.0’s Cloud Dashboard lets you analyse your
content by category, including documents, photos, music,
videos and others; see how much and where free space is
available; and drag and drop content between services.
Zero PC has also launched an app for Android tablets,
ZeroPC Cloud Navigator, and will shortly be launching a
version for the iPad.

Visioneer enhances
scan quality
automatically
Visioneer has brought out new
software to improve the quality of
scanned documents at point of capture,
improving OCR accuracy and reducing
the need to make manual corrections.
Included in new Visioneer and Xerox
Documate scanners, Visioneer Acuity
can detect the colour and size of pages,
remove blank pages and rotate images
based on content. It automatically cleans
up black and white output using dynamic
threshold and de-speckling and offers a
choice of manual controls such as the
ability to drop unnecessary colours or
choose different settings for particular
document types.
Users of existing Visioneer and Xerox
DocuMate scanners can download
Visioneer Acuity from

Nuance adds support for DSS
The Digital Speech Standard (DSS) audio format, a digital voice recording standard
for professional speech processing jointly developed by Grundig, Olympus and
Philips, is now fully supported in Nuance’s Dragon
NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software.
This means that voice files recorded in Digital Speech
Standard (.dss) or Digital Speech Standard Pro (.ds2) formats
can be transcribed directly by Dragon (Premium and higher)
without prior conversion to another voice file format.
DSS files have a high compression rate for reduced file
size, network traffic and storage requirements; and allow
additional information, such as client/patient name and
document type to be stored in the file header for ease of
organisation. The DSS Pro (.ds2) format also supports file
encryption.
