Web client mirrors desktop
Meeting growing demand for web access to important documents, fast growing document management specialist DocuWare has introduced a new web client offering much the same functionality as its Windows client. The improved functionality of the DocuWare 5.1cWeb Client allows organisations to mirror existing workfow processes for reduced training and greater acceptance among users. For the frst time, it features baskets (like desk in-trays), which are such a feature of theWindows client. All documents contained in baskets can be shown in a viewer or opened in an original program (such as Microsoft Offce), then edited and indexed for storage.
With the new web client, it’s also possible to process multiple documents simultaneously and add annotations to every page of a document. Documents can be displayed in simple/detailed list form, as icons or in cover fow mode, which is particularly helpful when scrolling through documents found in a basket.
Another highlight of DocuWare 5.1c is the Smart Connect module, which can be opened directly from the web client. This allows a user with basic IT know-how to confgure and place a button in many of today’s leading software programs, giving one click access to documents relating to the current transaction.
Also new is the Notifcation Server which sends an email as soon as a document has been stored or index entries have been changed.
DocuWare has 10,000 installations and more than 100,000 users in 70 countries.

DECT with a difference
The Sagemcom C220R uses the same technology as the hugely popular Sagemcom Sixty cordless telephone and answering machine but in a design more suitable for business use. With big buttons and a large screen, it is just like a normal business phone except that the handset is cordless. This means that you can easily hand it over to a colleague to continue a call or walk around the offce while talking. Unlike conventional DECT phones, all the buttons are on the base station, so when away from the desk, you can only answer calls and not make them. See the full review in the next issue.
