01732 759725 20 NEWS : VENDORS Juan Lyall Cohesity has announced a data management as-a-service offering that combines data backup and archiving, security and ransomware detection, disaster recovery, file and object services, copy data management and analytics with consumption-based pricing. The product of a tie-up with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which includes equity investment by Amazon in Cohesity, the DMaaS provides mid-size and enterprise organisations with a ‘radically simple’ way to back up, secure, govern and analyse their data, managed directly by Cohesity and hosted on AWS. As well as removing data infrastructure silos, the DMaaS enables customers to take advantage of cloud-based services provided by AWS, including Amazon Macie, to help meet compliance needs, and Amazon Redshift for analytics. It also gives customers more choice when deciding how to manage their data; they can manage the data infrastructure themselves (in the data centre, at the edge, or in the cloud); they can utilise DMaaS, where infrastructure is managed for them; or they can use a combination of both (hybrid). The new DMaaS is founded on Cohesity Helios, a SaaS-based data platform that currently empowers more than 1,500 customers to manage data across environments that they manage. Going forward, customers will have the option to use Helios to do the same for data residing in a Cohesity-managed environment. The first solution offered as part of the DMaaS, the Cohesity DataProtect Backup as a Service, will be available by the end of the year, with further solutions added next year. Cohesity collaborates with new equity partner Amazon to provide data management as a service Made for collaboration Avaya has redesigned its Avaya Vantage desktop device to boost remote worker productivity and give them a better collaboration experience. The all-in-one wireless meeting solution with built-in HD conferencing camera, wide band audio and four microphones enables home workers to offload calls and meetings from their laptop onto a purpose-built device. With extra processing power, the new device is three times faster than its predecessor and fully integrated with the Avaya Spaces cloud-based collaboration app. This combines chat, audio and video communications with immersive workspaces where team members can meet, share content, manage tasks and collaborate, with the option to ‘shift’ content or participants to a larger display at any point. www.avaya.com BullGuard ready for MSPs Cybersecurity company BullGuard has introduced Managed Service Provider (MSP) functionality to its award- winning BullGuard Small Office Security product, giving MSPs and IT resellers the ability to remotely manage customer endpoints, including Windows, Android and macOS devices, regardless of whether employees are in an office, working remotely or travelling.
