01732 759725 24 DattoCON19 As the MSP market continues to grow, Datto announces new products at its Paris conference, including Cloud Continuity for PCs that enable an MSP to find new customers. To make it possible for its MSP customers to provide everything an SME requires with one monthly payment, Datto is continually expanding its product offering through a combination of strategic acquisitions and on-going product development. Commitment to Europe DattoCon was first and foremost an opportunity for Datto to trumpet its commitment to MSPs in Europe, where it has increased its headcount by 20% year- on-year, now employing 275 people across every business function (sales, support, service, engineering, finance, product, HR). Today, it has eight offices and five data centres in four European countries, including Denmark, where it has opened a Copenhagen office to serve MSP customers in the Nordics. As is the custom, DattoCon was also the launchpad for a number of new products and enhancements to its existing offering for business continuity and disaster recovery; networking; file backup and sync solutions; and business management. These included: n Cloud Continuity for PCs , an image- based, all-in-one business continuity solution for PCs that takes continuous backups and protects critical PC data from ransomware attacks, lost/stolen devices or accidental deletion. MSPs can now recover an entire PC image or individual files without the need for a local appliance, access reliable backups of PC data and virtualise backup images in the Datto Cloud; n Native integration of Datto Networking with Datto RMM , which streamlines end-user support by reducing movement between management portals. Partners can now assess performance capacity, identify related devices and remotely control ports from the newly designed RMM interface, all at no additional charge; n Single sign-on (SSO) with Datto RMM , which provides a single, consistent location for MSPs to manage RMM user access and reduces the number of login prompts encountered when moving between Datto On October 21-23, Datto, a provider of IT solutions delivered through managed service providers, hosted 850 MSPs from 25 countries at DattoCon19 in Paris, described by Mark Simon, Managing Director EMEA, as the “single greatest gathering of MSPs in Europe ever”. The 70% increase in attendance compared to last year’s event highlights the buoyancy of the MSP market in Europe. Managed services now account for about 10% of total IT spend by SMEs, circa $30 billion in Europe ($100 billion globally), and, according to Canalys, the market is growing at a rate of 25% – five times faster than overall IT spend by SMEs. Much of this growth, according to Datto CEO Tim Weller, comes from the desire amongst SMEs for greater simplicity. Instead of having to manage relationships with dozens of different IT suppliers, while meeting ever more stringent compliance and security requirements, more SMEs see the attractions of an MSP that can offer a standardised tech stack and one monthly fee for a full suite of services. He pointed out that there is still plenty of room for new entrants, as 57% of IT firms are yet to offer any kind of managed service. Many of those that do will be familiar with Datto. Founded in 2007, it already provides 16,000 MSPs globally with a range of IT services. This includes leading edge technology that an MSP can sell through to its end customers; business management tools that an MSP can use to manage and scale its business; and marketing platforms Going places solutions. As part of its commitment to help MSPs secure clients’ IT environments, Datto is protecting accounts from unauthorised access by mandating two-factor authentication (2FA) for all RMM users. It is also launching a new library of scripting components, updated monthly, available at no additional charge to Datto RMM users; n SIRIS 4 Business, which completes the SIRIS 4 line of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) devices. This features new Intel Skylake CPUs for more power and error-correcting memory for more reliable backups. Other Continuity updates include Recovery Launchpad, an all-new cloud recovery tool featuring a network configuration interface that allows MSPs to get clients up and running faster during a disaster; and Universal Backup support for any system running on VMware, such as VoIP and security systems, extending the ability for MSPs to protect their clients’ critical data systems, as well as any system the business relies on to operate; n A new release of Autotask PSA , featuring a new integration with Microsoft Active Directory that automatically updates the contact list in Autotask PSA to ensure more accurate billing statements and enhanced security; and an overhaul of the Configuration Item user interface designed to increase efficiency when managing many different types of devices and assets that are discovered by an MSP’s RMM tool; and n SaaS Protection , which offers a new, streamlined client onboarding process to make it easier for MSPs to add new clients, plus expanded support for Microsoft Teams backup including Files, Conversations and Calendar meetings. Above all, DattoCon was an opportunity for MSPs and members of the press to meet with senior Datto executives, and in next month’s issue we will be running a series of interviews that Technology Reseller conducted at the event. In the meantime, please read our interview with David Thomas, Managing Director of Bluegrass Group, who on the pages 26 and 28 explains how Datto has helped his business to grow.
