Brother brings A3 printing to the masses
Brother is hoping to build
on the huge success it has
already had in the A3 inkjet
printer market by launching
a new range of compact A3-
capable devices.
Perfect for home workers
and micro businesses with
limited space, the J4000 series
of all-in-ones can produce
occasional A3 prints from an
A4-sized device through the
combination of an A3 bypass
tray and landscape printing.
Brother says that printing in
landscape rather than portrait
mode has allowed it to reduce
machine depth by 36% and
increase print speeds to 20ipm
for colour and 18ipm for mono.
All models in the J4000
range are Airprint and Google
Cloud Print-ready and feature
an A3 bypass tray; automatic
two-sided printing; optional
high yield supplies; and
802.11n wireless, built-in
Ethernet and USB connectivity.
Prices start at £129 (inc.
VAT) for the 3-in-1 DCP-
J4110DW, rising to £229.99
for the 4-in-1 MFC-J4510DW
with a 20-sheet ADF, two-
sided copying/scanning and
smartphone-like display.

Finance departments are
failing to make the most of
scanners to improve business
processes, according to a
study by Redshift Research
for Eclipse Group.
Its survey of 200 financial
decision-makers reveals that
almost half of all sales and
purchase invoices are still
paper-based and just one third
of documents within finance
departments are scanned.
Almost half (46%) of finance
departments still key invoices
into the accounting system and
35% manually move invoices
around for approval.
Nine out of 10 (88%)
respondents said it was
important to remove paper
from their organisation, yet
51% have no plans to introduce
an electronic document
management system due
to fear of data loss (cited
by 34%) and a belief that
auditors require original paper
documents (33%).
Gary Waylett, CEO of the
Eclipse Group, said it was
time organisations scanned
all finance-related
documents into a
secure repository
(with back-up),
introduced workflows to
streamline invoice approval and
generated all outbound finance
documents electronically.
He said: “The majority of
organisations are already
scanning some documents as
they arrive in the building, so
why not extend the model and
take a strategic approach?
Removing the most labour
intensive element of the
finance process, namely the
handling of in-bound and
out-bound paper invoices,
delivers immediate cost
savings and provides a raft of
other benefits, from improving
payment time-scales to
eProcurement.”
Finance departments should
make better use of scanners like
Brother’s ADS2600W to digitise
paper workflows
