01732 759725 48 Q&A View from the channel Q: How’s business; better or worse than 12 months ago? And how confident are you about the future? A: Business is better now than it was 12 months ago. As offices re-open and people return to work, we’re all trying to get back some kind of normality, structure and routine to our daily life. I feel that businesses’ long-term print requirements will never be the same going forward, i.e. offices no longer need the long-term printing facilities that they had pre-pandemic. I feel confident that our pay as you go print business model is well placed to respond to these changing needs. Q: In what areas are you experiencing strongest demand? A: There’s definitely a strong demand for our no contract, no lease printing arrangement. As offices open up, one of the first things business leaders are looking to do is review budgets and identify where they can make cost savings. For many businesses, printing lease contracts will be one area they have thrown away money during the pandemic. This is where we can help. Q: How have you changed/are you changing business operations to exploit new opportunities? A: We have changed a lot of things. We’ve invested in a new user-friendly website and partnered with the market leading toner supplier in the European and UK markets. Most importantly, we’ve embedded our environmental responsibilities which drive us to find sustainable, low carbon printing solutions. As a result, Pay As You Go Print is actively helping businesses to reduce their environmental impact. Anthony O’Mahony, Managing Director, Pay As You Go Print Q: What do you see as the biggest challenges facing channel businesses today? A: I think the biggest challenges are in the supply chain. The UK has had a double hit with the pandemic and Brexit that’s causing every type of business to have problems with supplies and price increases. Our toner supplies are taking at least two weeks longer to arrive in the UK, and consumables and hardware are difficult to get hold of. Q: Could vendors and distributors do more to help you overcome them? And if so, what? A: Absolutely. We’re all very aware of supply chain issues and stock shortages. I think vendors and distributors could do more to plan and forecast future demand. We should all be working together to make sure products are in stock and provide the best deal for the end-user. Q: If you could change one aspect of your job what would it be and why? A: I’m really proud of our commitment to sustainability and the work we’ve done so far towards our zero carbon commitment, but there’s still a lot more to be done. If I could, I would transform Pay As You Go Print into a 100% carbon neutral company tomorrow. www.payasyougoprint.co.uk Anthony O’Mahony
