01732 759725 22 WHAT'S NEW Secure scanning solution Kodak Alaris has launched new INfuse Expansion Modules, including six new software add- ons and support for a third-party card reader accessory that allows users to scan documents more securely and efficiently than before. Partners can now customise their core INfuse smart connected scanning offering by adding one or more of these modules to their solutions. The Kodak Alaris subscription licensing model now offers the new INfuse Expansion Modules, allowing partners the flexibility to configure the right solution for each customer. In addition to the existing standard and partner customised connectors, four new Direct-to-destination Connector Modules are available to optimise data channel efficiency to major cloud destinations. These Connector Modules allow the scanner to scan directly to Microsoft Azure Blob storage, Amazon S3 storage, Alibaba OSS storage, or Tencent COS storage without passing through intermediate destinations, improving security while simultaneously eliminating costs, delays and maintenance complexities. INfuse provides enterprise-level security, including a separate data path, control path and authentication path, to isolate confidential content for secure transmission. As part of the INfuse expansion, new authenticator modules for added security include: the LDAP Authentication Module, the PaperCut Authentication Module, and the ability to develop custom authentication modules for partners. All of the modules provide credentialed information from the scanner directly into a customer’s authentication system. Customers benefit from having a single authentication authority, providing more efficiency and better control over document chain of custody. Kodak Alaris also supports secure access to INfuse AX Scanners using a third-party card reader. The HID OMNIKEY Smart Card Reader is a cost-effective way for organisations to leverage their existing user ID system to improve security while providing a user-friendly experience. www.alarisworld.com Focus On: What’s New Instant staple remover The Instant Staple Remover-A1, created by MAX CO. LTD. and exclusive to Canon, can be bought either individually or as a set with Canon’s high speed imageFORMULA document scanners. The Instant Staple Remover-A1 can automatically remove staples from batch documents of up to 30 pages and helps to prevent documents from being damaged during the process. Joseph Courts, Head of Product Marketing, Document Solutions at Canon UK & Ireland said: “Staples can be a significant roadblock in the information capture process. Removing them manually takes a lot of time and effort, and there’s a risk of tearing or damaging documents. By offering rapid staple extraction with the Instant Staple Remover-A1 alongside fast scanning through our imageFORMULA production scanners, we are providing a significant productivity boost for customers.” www.canon.co.uk ezeep Blue and oneclick integration ThinPrint and oneclick, the EaaS platform for providing digital workplaces, are now working in cooperation. With the ezeep Blue integration, oneclick users can now work and print directly from the web browser with a convenient cloud desktop, for example using Desktop- as-a-Service (DaaS). Users can also easily print documents to physical printers directly from virtual cloud desktops and apps. The virtual print manager integrated with oneclick already supports many everyday office printing tasks, but ThinPrint’s specialised cloud printing solution ezeep Blue takes printing to new performance levels. ezeep Blue fully supports complex networks, native printer drivers, process-dependent print tray selection, manufacturer-specific finishing options and even the control of specialised printers like those used for labels. oneclick customers can now use ezeep Blue from ThinPrint at no added cost as part of many oneclick DaaS offerings and out-of-the-box VDI packages, regardless of cloud provider or the printer manufacturer. www.ezeep. com Cloud offerings Lexmark has enhanced its core cloud services offerings for direct users and partners. Lexmark Cloud Print Management (CPM) allows customers of all sizes to simplify processes, streamline costs and relieve IT burden. New updates include third-party support, meaning customers with multiple brands of print devices can now utilise Lexmark CPM across all devices, not just Lexmark devices. An external adapter attaches to the non-Lexmark printer or MFP and enables print management with badge release, without the need for additional on-premise infrastructure. New guest print features allow guests to use print release. Rather than scanning a badge to release a print job with a cloud account, the guest user submits the document they wish to print, then receives a unique pin number via email to trigger print release. Lexmark Cloud Fleet Management (CFM) enables Lexmark partners to easily configure printers, capture cost-saving metrics and keep devices current working from a remote operations centre which saves time and money. New CFM capabilities include: n Supply level monitoring has been expanded to include supplies beyond toner, such as photoconductor, waste toner bottle, etc. n Home screen customisation is now available for easier navigation, as users can rearrange the printer home screen to best suit their specific needs. n Copy/scan/fax counters are now listed in the same place as the print counter, for greater user convenience. n Dashboard cards and notification updates through Lexmark Cloud Services enable quick visibility and instant access to key information. www.lexmark.co.uk Kodak Alaris INfuse Expansion Modules
