Smith brings a wealth of industry experience to the role. He started his career in the UK with Minolta where he became the first colour device technician for the direct operation, before moving on to the Minolta Corporation in South Africa as a technical trainer and then progressed on to dealer support. He returned to the UK in 2001 to join Olivetti UK as technical support before moving into account management, looking after the dealer base until the recent restructuring. The wholesaler has also promoted Simon McLoughlin to the role of Merchandising Director to take forward the product management, inventory and purchasing teams. www.vowwholesale.co.uk CompTIA names new chairwoman British technology entrepreneur, business owner and activist Tracy Pound, has been selected to serve as Chairwoman of the board of directors of CompTIA, the non- profit association for the information technology (IT) industry. The Founder and Managing Director of Maximity in Birmingham, Pound is the first industry executive from Britain to chair the CompTIA board. She succeeds Gordon Pelosse, formerly an executive with Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Canada, who remains on the board as immediate past Chair. CompTIA also announced Scott Barlow, Vice President for Global MSP at Sophos, and Quy Nguyen, CEO of Allyance Communications Inc., will serve as Vice Chairs of the association’s board for 2021-22. www.comptia.org Tech Data adds new heads to services team Tech Data has been swelling the ranks of its services team as it makes further investment in a key growth area for its partners. Six new members have joined the team recently, with further recruitment to come. The new members of the team will boost support to partners around Tech-as-a-Service, configuration services, and B2C finance, principally the Tech Data Easy Upgrade programme, which enables retailers and webstores to offer an easy subscription payment options on new devices. The team is being expanded to meet the growing demand for the services offering, drive further awareness of what’s available, and pave the way for the introduction of new services over the coming months. Lydia McKinnon will lead the expansion of 4ICG’s team in Malaga as well as the establishment of its new office in Tenerife, which was announced by the company in March. Another 200 jobs are being created in Malaga, as well as the 150 roles previously announced at its Santa Cruz base in Tenerife. 4ICG Group’s roster of brands includes Software Advisory Service, Pursuit Marketing and Fierce Digital. The company plans to announce further expansion, with additional locations, in Europe in the next six months. www.4icg.com Asolvi boosts customer focus Asolvi has announced the appointment of three Regional Managing Directors. These newly-created roles will enhance and develop the existing locally-based contacts, expertise and support for new and existing customers. The three new posts, covering the DACH region, the UK and Ireland, and the Nordic countries, will be taken by Armin Alt, Michael Burke and Jørgen Nytrø respectively. All three have extensive executive-level experience and will be based within the markets that they will be managing. As part of the restructure, Tony Milford will also take on a new role.
