PRINT IT RESELLER.UK 7 BULLETIN Insight Systems moves into new premises Kent-based Insight Systems has moved into new premises in Wrotham with the help of a six-figure funding package from HSBC. The building, named Insight House, is designed as a live technology workspace where potential customers can see Insight Systems’ employees using the same technology that can benefit their businesses. At the building’s heart is The Technology Lab, a sandbox for businesses to evaluate the latest multifunctional printers and document software. The colourful interior design is part of Insight’s brand identity, which echoes the primary colours used in printing. Several canvas artworks by a local artist depict well-known Kent landmarks and the company’s family ownership. The considerable investment demonstrates Insight’s commitment to its customers and employees. And with room to grow from the current 50 staff to over 100, the business looks forward to attracting new talent from both near and far. www.insightsystems.co.uk A class education Midshire has installed the latest in immersive touch screen classroom technology at Sunderland-based Barnes Junior School. The twelve 70” HD Promethean ActivPanels have revolutionised the school’s classrooms, increasing productivity, functionality, and enabling collaborative working and learning. Promethean ActivPanels utilise InGlass technology to provide schools with the industry’s most natural ‘pen-on-paper’ writing experience, offering no script-lag, and automatically detecting the difference between a finger, pen, and palm erase. Audrey Maddison, School Business Manager at Barnes Junior School said: “Before Midshire came in we were using dated interactive whiteboards and projectors. A growing concern for teachers was that the devices were getting a bit tired, and we found that in the time it took for them to warm up students were distracted. These new screens are incredibly fast and optimise learning time.” www.midshire.co.uk Swim for water Last month, United Carlton Operations Manager Steve Gale and his daughter Franci took part in the Great North Swim, Europe’s biggest open water swimming event, to raise money for Water Aid. The international non-profit organisation was set up in 1981 as a response to the UN International Drinking Water & Sanitation decade (1981–1990). Water Aid works in partnership with local organisations in 37 countries in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Pacific region to help poor communities establish sustainable water supplies and toilets close to home, and to promote safe hygiene practices. www.united-carlton.co.uk (l to r): Terry Garvey, Sales Director of sponsor EFI, presents the award to MX Display’s David Lister Award win for MX Display Large format print specialist MX Display has scooped a prestigious design industry award for the work it did on the new visitors’ centre at motorcycle manufacturer Triumph.
