01732 759725 BULLETIN 6 Fitness chain gets Midshire performance boost Great service pays off for Unique Copiers Unique Copiers, based in Donnington, has quadrupled the work it does for Belvoir sales and lettings property specialists and will now take care of all copying needs at the branches in Stone, Stafford and Birmingham. The extension comes after Unique started working at the branch in Grosvenor House, Central Park, Telford, in October. Owner Adrian Casey said he was delighted by the new contracts. “We saved the Telford Belvoir office 30% of their copying costs on their previous contract, so they asked us to look at what we could do in other branches. The other two branches in Stafford and Stone have signed contracts with us due to a very positive recommendation from the initial Telford branch success.” www.uniquecopiers.co.uk Commercial helps UK schools embrace IT Schools for Africa initiative Commercial’s managed IT services division Commercial IT Services is helping UK schools ensure their old laptops, monitors and PCs are put to good use via charity IT Schools Africa. Equipment is collected from schools by Commercial IT Services free of charge and taken to IT Schools Africa’s Cheltenham head office. All data is erased, then computers are upgraded and loaded with Windows 10 and educational software. Disadvantaged young people from Commercial’s social enterprise Commercial Foundation are involved in the reconditioning process. Wellington School in Somerset recently donated 240 pieces of equipment, following an upgrade of its IT infrastructure by Commercial IT Services. On collection day, the team introduced pupils to the concept of sustainable development, explaining how their computers would help schoolchildren less fortunate than themselves. Director of Commercial IT Services, Richard Blundell, says the initiative represents a new aspect of the business’ ‘managed IT with a conscience’ positioning. www.commercial.co.uk Hollis Technology sponsors disability rugby festival Hollis Technology joined forces with Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust and the Harlequins Foundation to sponsor the #SendusRugby tournament at the Twickenham Stoop. The event, which took place on May 18, allowed 150 young people with learning difficulties from over 15 special secondary schools across Surrey to take part in the Foundation’s first-ever Disability Rugby Festival for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students at Harlequins’ home ground. During the day, coaches from the RFU and Harlequins Foundation introduced pupils to mixed ability touch rugby before putting them through their paces for a fun rugby festival in the afternoon. Harlequins Foundation Co-ordinator and Disability Rugby lead, MatthewWilliams, said: “For us mixed-ability rugby is the perfect way to enable more young people with learning difficulties to experience our sport. Thanks to Project Rugby we have been able to support both young people and adults into the sport, and witness at first hand the incredible social impact it can have for them and their local community.” Hollis Managing Director Garry Thompson presented 200 medals and three trophies to the worthy winners. He said: “Hollis Technology was delighted to sponsor this important event which focused on children’s development and happiness in such a fun and inclusive way. As a partly sighted adult I was delighted to meet the technical team at Orchard Hill who are obviously passionate and clearly fully focused on developing new technology to enhance these children’s lives. I couldn’t think of anything better for Hollis to support.” www.hollistechnology.co.uk Charity golf day Vision’s annual charity golf day held on June 1 at Essendon Country Club, in Hertfordshire raised £1,390 for Teens Unite. The registered charity has seen its twelve Stockport leisure centres fitted with state-of-the- art Sharp multifunctional printers and PaperCut print monitoring software. Established in 2002 as the Stockport Sports Trust, over 500 Life Leisure employees provide 350 weekly studio classes, gymnasiums, and swimming pools to thousands of people across the Stockport area. The award-winning leisure operator also provides many other sports, community programmes and post-workout amenities, including beauty services, physiotherapy, and massage from sports specialists. IT Sales Manager Stuart Carruthers said: “This installation was unique due to the centres’ demanding seven-day schedule. We had to get each site up and running in a short window of time, so we preconfigured all of the machines beforehand so that the devices simply needed to be plugged in, with no need for on-site networking.” www.midshire.co.uk
