22 01732 759725 UK businesses are being held back by a growing ‘complexity trap’ as rising technology and operational demands undermine confidence in long-term growth, warns O2 Business, the new name for O2 Daisy. Created from the merger of Virgin Media O2’s Business division and Daisy Group in August last year, O2 Business is focused on helping UK organisations cut through complexity by making it simpler to connect, communicate and get things done. The business already provides connectivity and communications services to hundreds of thousands of customers across the UK, from large enterprises to small and medium sized organisations, including such well known names as Sainsbury’s, British Sugar, the RFU and Southampton Football Club. It also has a significant presence in the public sector. By bringing together Virgin Media O2’s network infrastructure and Daisy’s award-winning service and support, O2 Business is confident it can deliver a simpler, more joined-up experience that reduces fragmentation and improves how services are delivered and managed. Jo Bertram, CEO of O2 Business, said: “Most businesses don’t feel short of technology – they feel weighed down by it. Too many systems, too many suppliers and too much time spent trying to make everything work together. At O2 Business, we think it should be simpler than that. We’re breathing simplicity into the way business works by bringing connectivity and communications together in one joined up experience that just makes sense. When technology is easier to deal with, businesses get back time, focus and confidence – and that’s when real growth happens.” Examples of how O2 Business aims to improve the customer experience include simplifying product choices, streamlining onboarding and improving consistency across service and support, while continuing to meet the needs of businesses with more complex or multiservice requirements. It already provides a comprehensive portfolio of connectivity, communications and IT solutions, including cloud-based services, Teams Phone Mobile and a range of digital-first solutions, and will be introducing more innovations in the coming months. Complexity trap A simpler experience will be welcomed by many of the 500-plus UK business leaders surveyed by Censuswide for O2 Business, 66% of whom agree that technology decisions are becoming increasingly complex. Almost half (49%) believe their tech set up is more complex than it needs to be. This rising complexity is already having a tangible impact on performance, contributing to higher operational costs (30%), increased pressure on leadership’s time and focus (26%) and slower business growth (19%). Matthew Riley, Chairman of O2 Business, said: “UK businesses are the engine of our economy, but too many are being slowed down by complexity they never asked for. When organisations are tied up managing systems instead of strategy, productivity and growth suffer.” He added: “Simplifying that landscape isn’t just a technical challenge – it’s a commercial opportunity. With our combined scale and expertise, O2 Business is uniquely positioned to help organisations operate more efficiently, unlock real value and compete with confidence in an increasingly demanding market.” As it is, the complexity trap is adding to the pressure on business leaders, with 76% of those questioned by Censuswide reporting increased personal pressure over the past two years, as organisations balance cost pressures, growth ambitions and the need to adopt new technologies. The research also highlights a clear confidence gap across the UK business community, with smaller firms surveyed feeling significantly less confident in their growth prospects than larger firms. Just 68% of SOHO businesses express confidence in long-term growth, compared to over 90% of mid-sized and larger organisations. Overall, 16% of business leaders lack confidence in their organisation’s long-term growth prospects. O2 Business plans to introduce its new identity in a phased rollout across customer channels and through a programme of live events and roadshows in the coming months. www.o2business.co.uk O2 Daisy becomes O2 Business with focus on supporting businesses of all sizes with integrated, easy-to-manage solutions designed to reduce complexity and support growth Escaping the complexity trap SUPPLIERS Jo Bertram Matthew Riley
