MANAGED.IT 5 www.managedITmag.co.uk INNOVATIONS Modular UPS for small spaces The revamped Riello UPS Multi Power range of modular uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) extends the benefits of modular UPS (performance, scalability, efficiency) to smaller applications with limited space. Enhancements include two 2U power modules (15 and 25 kW) to complement existing 42kW modules and a compact cabinet. Measuring 60cm wide and 1.2 metres high, the MPX cabinet can house up to five 2U modules. Up to four cabinets can run in parallel for increased capacity. www.riello-ups.co.uk Jumping barriers Huawei is bringing smartphones and computers closer together with a new feature that enables a Huawei MateBook D Series consumer laptop and Huawei smartphone to share a single display so that users can view content saved on a smartphone on their laptop. Files can be transferred by dragging them from one user interface to the other. Peripherals connected to the laptop can also be used to navigate the smartphone, giving laptop users seamless access to mobile apps without switching device. The screen collaboration feature builds on HUAWEI OneHop, launched in November 2018, which enables users to transfer files including images and videos across platforms e.g. between Android smartphones and Windows PCs. http://consumer.huawei.com Carbon-balanced paper Antalis has announced that it is carbon-balancing every product in the Arjowiggins Creative Papers range by investing in forest protection projects in Vietnam. Under the aegis of the World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Paper scheme, the B2B distributor is offsetting all carbon emissions produced in the sourcing, production and transport of Rives, Olin, Conqueror, Pop’set and Keaykolour so that they are delivered to customers carbon-balanced. To date, World Land Trust projects have protected 16,000 acres of forest from clearance, enabling 169,000 tonnes of carbon emissions to be absorbed every year. www.antalis.co.uk Flip and fold You probably won’t want a phone like this, but your daughter might. Featuring Samsung’s first foldable glass display, the Galaxy Z Flip marries a 6.7in screen with a compact design small enough to fit into a clutch bag or back pocket. Samsung says that having a foldable display and Hideaway Hinge that opens at multiple angles (like a laptop’s) doesn’t only make the phone less bulky; it also supports new ways of capturing content, including hands-free selfies and video chats. Other features include a custom UX that maximises the benefits of a foldable screen (e.g. split-screen functionality for productive multi- tasking) and a cover display that shows notifications of new messages, battery life and time and date. Younger consumers are most likely to embrace the Galaxy Z Flip’s possibilities, but what will they make of the hefty £1,300 price tag? www.samsung.com/uk Flexible and compact OKI’s new A3 colour MFP, the MC883, combines high quality colour printing and smart software solutions that enable flexible, efficient and secure document capture, collaboration and management.
