Canon puts Hibernian in control
In a contract worth 700,000 euros, Canon has implemented a managed print service for The Hibernian Group that will enable Ireland’s largest insurer to reduce printing costs and paper consumption at its Dublin headquarters.
Canon is meeting Hibernian’s printing needs with a balanced deployment of 48 colour and mono MFDs plus a number of desktop printers.
All Canon devices are covered by the eMaintenance remote monitoring service, which maximises machine uptime by routing error codes issued by a Canon machine directly to a service team. Details of the service or parts needed are then relayed to an on-site Canon technician who can take immediate action if necessary.
To keep control of print costs, Hibernian has installed Canon’s uniFLOW Output Manager, which sends print jobs to a single queue enabling employees to use a swipe card (also used for Hibernian’s cashless payment system) to print the document from any print device in the building.
Because the user must be at the machine to initiate the print, security is improved and the chance of prints being left uncollected - a major cause of waste - is minimised.
In addition, uniFLOW Output Manager keeps a record of all print jobs for improved print monitoring and control.
