With news of the event reaching more than 21 million people, Samaritans Stress Down Day is a great opportunity for cause related marketing

Samaritans is looking for corporate sponsors to support next year’s Stress Down Day, which is due to be held on February 1.
The 2008 Stress Down Day is designed to raise awareness of stress in all work environments, from offices and factories to home workers who also look after children and the home.
Like this year’s event, the Day will be marked by the release of a survey into occupational stress.
Samaritans claims that the 2007 Day was a huge success for sponsors, as between December 2006 and February 2007, 21 million people either read or heard about the Stress Down Day event and associated Stressed Out Survey.
Hazel Norval, corporate relations manager with Samaritans, said: “Stress Down Day provides fantastic business benefits for brands which have a strong association or fit with Stress Down Day. Benefits to previous sponsors and partners have included increased sales, positive publicity, sampling opportunities and being able to demonstrate their CSR.”
She is particularly interested in hearing from businesses with products that fit well with the themes of calm, relaxation and work:life balance that may want to implement cause-related marketing initiatives.
Last year’s sponsors included Firefly Tonics, which held a photography competition and printed the winning photo on a special ‘Chill Out’ label; Taylor’s of Harrogate, which handed out 10,000 tea bags at train stations where Stress Down Day leaflets were being distributed; Harvey Nichols, which offered free massages to people who bought Firefly drinks; and healthcare cash plan provider Medicash, which sponsored the Stressed Out Survey.
