Smarter web printing can cut costs
In the summer HP announced Print 2.0, its latest strategy to capture a greater proportion of the 53 trillion pages that will be printed every year (by 2010). A key element of Print 2.0 is the launch of tools and services designed to simplify the printing of web pages.

One of these is HP Smart Web Printing 2.0, which was automatically loaded onto Business Info’s PC with the drivers for an HP OfficeJet K7100 Series A3 inkjet printer. Unexpected as it was, this is a very useful tool for printing information from web sites that has the potential to save ink, toner and paper consumption. Printing from the internet is notoriously difficult and wasteful: formatting is frequently all over the shop; extra pages are printed with just one or two lines of text; and users often have to print unwanted material including ink/toner-hungry graphics.
HP Smart Web Printing 2.0 for Internet Explorer version 6.0 (or later) overcomes these problems by enabling users to copy and paste text, graphics and images from different websites and collate them in a single document, which can then be edited, printed or saved as a PDF file. In addition, HP Smart Web Printing 2.0 offers users of Internet Explorer 6.0 improved formatting and print preview functionality.
It is available with new HP printers or can be downloaded from http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/cache/482779-0-0-225-121.html.
