Dell survey print buyers

Widespread ignorance amongst office workers of the true cost of colour printing (see story above) shows the folly of implementing colour printers without monitoring and controlling usage. Yet, according to Dell, this is a mistake that small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the UK, France and Germany continue to make. It surveyed more than 600 people with responsibility for printing in companies with between 100 and 500 employees and found that although 88% of organisations had a colour printing capability, 9 out of 10 had no restrictions on printing and just 1 in 5 (22%) monitored usage. More than three out of four respondents were unaware of printing costs within their organisation and less than 10% knew how much printers cost to run.
