Colour Multifunction from Xerox

Published October 17, 2007 at 2:58 pm · Filed under Printer / Copier

Based on Xerox’s proven 240/250 DocuColor platform, the DocuColor 242, 252 and 260 are targeted at the fast growing high-volume office and graphic arts markets.

According to Infosource, the Western European market for colour and colour capable multifunction copier/printers capable of producing 40 or more pages per minute grew by 218% in 2006, compared to growth of 48% for the A3 colour MFP market as a whole.

Xerox claims that the DocuColor 242/252/260 systems offer advanced functionality and performance normally associated with high-end production machines, at a fraction of their footprint and costs.

The devices use a proprietary 32-beam laser to deliver true 2400×2400 dpi print resolution with precise line and shadow detail on a wide range of media up to 300 gsm and SRA3 (full-bleed A3), including coated paper, labels, transparencies, synthetics and transfer media.

This makes the MFDs suitable for printing a wide range of marketing material, such as posters, direct-mail pieces and short-run brochures, in addition to everyday business documents such as reports, presentations and proposals.

The DocuColor 242 and 252 boast the same print speed as their predecessors (40/50 ppm in colour and 55/65 ppm in black and white), while the DocuColor 260 introduces a new speed point for the series of 60ppm in colour and 75ppm black and white. To maximise productivity the machines have two black cartridges and ability to load toner on the fly.

The modular devices are available with a choice of five colour controllers and sophisticated finishing options including a new light-production finisher that offers increased stapling capacity, an interposer for tab stock insertion, hole punching, folding and a stacker tray.
