rn normal employee attrition, with 29% now struggling to recruit. Overall, 74% of employers say they are struggling to keep their employees happy. That said, employees globally are less reluctant to return to the office (51%) now than they were in 2021 (64%). Three in four business leaders surveyed (75%) have increased their real estate portfolio in the last two years, with companies across Asia Pacific reporting the highest rates of growth. This expansion includes talent attraction and revenue-generating initiatives such as creating hospitality spaces (cited by 44% of firms). Yet, the survey highlights the fact that employers need to do more to meet the needs of office workers. More than half (58%) of workers say they struggle to carry out their core job in the office due to distractions, even if 83% of employers believe the office is set up to allow their employees to be productive. When asked what they don’t like about the office, 31% of employees cited a lack of privacy compared to home working, 27% said they were more effective in a quiet environment away from the office and 23% said they were more productive at home. Commenting on the findings, Unispace’s CEO for EMEA Lawrence Mohiuddine said: “Results from the UK highlight that employees are now in the driver’s seat and more than ever before are able to make demands of their employers around where and how they choose to work…With 58% of workers across the country still reluctant to return to the office, even if it impacts their career prospects, businesses will continue to face recruitment and retention issues if they do not address the underlying challenges around workplace returns. This includes listening to what employees want, including creating more private spaces, mimicking the benefits of home working environments, whilst still gaining from the benefits of collaborative and social workspaces.” www.unispace.com 01732 759725 magazine 23 020 7501 3333 [email protected] www.spitfire.co.uk/canyouhearme Telecoms and IP Engineering Solutions for Business since 1988 Broadband is not designed for voice.
