It has also launched a new roller highlighter. Helix Oxford Fountain Pens now come in a choice of Blue, Pink, Graphite, Stainless Steel and Rose Gold barrels, while Helix Oxford Ballpoint and Rollerball Pens are, for the first time, available with blue ink. Maped Helix’s new Fluo Peps Roller Highlighter is the product of three years of research and lengthy consumer testing. Unlike some highlighters, it works on all types of ink, doesn’t dry out if the cap is left off and glides smoothly in all directions thanks to its patented roller technology. For students, it has the added benefit of a highlighting pattern that is claimed to develop visual memory – a key factor during revision. www.mapedhelix.co.uk One to note Ethical stationery brand VENT for Change was one of eight winners of a LaunchPad19 award, run by the Stationery Show to highlight the best new stationery brands. It produces a range of notebooks and writing instruments made from recycled and sustainable materials, much of it produced in the UK, from pencils made from recycled CD cases to pocket books made from reclaimed coffee cup fibres. Every item has both an environmental and an ethical message, with proceeds from the sale of every VENT product going towards children’s education projects worldwide. www.VENTforchange.co.uk Time for a sharpener Another Launchpad award winner, Brahman Design was honoured for its Høvel pencil sharpener, which planes layers of wood and graphite to a perfectly crafted point. Høvel is made of highly polished brass in line with the design team’s aim to create stationery products that ‘last a lifetime’. Options include a wooden base, a leather pouch and replacement blades.
