08 | P2P Magazine 01732 759725 EXHIBITION Paperworld, the trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery, returns to the Frankfurt Messe on January 26-29 2019, giving office buyers and office products dealers a first look at current and emerging trends in personal and office stationery. T he show organisers are expecting similar numbers to Paperworld 2018, when 1,640 exhibitors from 66 countries presented their products to 33,787 trade visitors, two thirds of whom (22,715) came from abroad. The exhibition covers two main markets: paper, stationery and school supplies for personal use, presented under the banner of ‘stationery trends’; and office supplies, which comes under the ‘visionary office' heading and includes office machines and equipment, organisational and presentation aids, office paper, writing and drawing instruments, IT and printer supplies and remanufactured printer materials. Office equipment, supplies and stationery are mainly located in Hall 3.0, where you will find leading brands like Durable, Exacompta-Clairefontaine, HSM, Krug and Priester (Ideal), Pukka Pads, Schneider, tesa and Trodat. Writing and drawing instruments are to be found in Hall 4.0, which is divided into separate areas for the office and school supplies. The Remanexpo, exhibition within an exhibition, featuring original and recycled printer consumables, components, hardware and software is moving from Hall 6.0 to Hall 5.1. Special features A supporting programme called 'Future Office' will run in Hall 3.0. Featuring its own speaker programme and exhibition space, this will address the importance of flexibility, highlighting flexible working hours, mobile workspaces and agile office concepts, such as the provision of separate zones for individual and focused work, meetings and social interchange. Michael Reichhold, director of Paperworld, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, said: “Flexible office design, zone concepts, clean desk and mobile devices are answers to flexible work requirements. That's why companies are increasingly investing in new concepts, office equipment and mobile devices. The 'Future Office' shows how this can be implemented in the workplace.” Also worth a look is the BMWi promotional area in Hall 3.1, where innovative start-ups will present fresh ideas, new thinking and unconventional designs for the paper, office supplies and stationery sector. 2019/20 trends Messe Frankfurt has once again commissioned style agency bora.herke. palmisano to forecast three dominant trends in stationery and office supplies. Based on developments in fashion, architecture and product and furniture design, these trends include 'tinted + flexible' for offices and 'urban + pristine' and 'graphic + particular' for stationery. All three will be showcased in Hall 3.1 F10 using products supplied by exhibitors. Claudia Herke from bora.herke. palmisano points out that these trends will exist under the overarching theme of wellbeing. "Against the background of digitalisation and urbanisation, our previous ideas of life and work are changing noticeably. Interestingly, the focus of these trends is less on technology than people," she said. Thus, the 'tinted + flexible' office trend sees intelligent room concepts blend highly adaptable, modular furniture, the latest technology and uplifting colours. Materials are cosy, homely and often recycled. Sound- absorbent textiles provide comfort and, at the same time, reinforce a colour concept or add colourful accents. On- trend colours include intense golden yellow, burgundy, ash rose and rich ochre monochrome tones, with black, white and grey accents. Close to nature The 'urban + pristine' trend in stationery emphasises simplicity and closeness to nature. Inspired by Scandinavia and Japan, it has a balanced and natural colour palette, from red cedar, fir tree and graphite to jeans, soft wood shades and off-white. Typical materials are oak, walnut, cedar, stone, leather, linen, wool and felt, accentuated with woven and tweed effects. Claudia Herke said: “The urgent issue of conservation of resources and waste prevention provides the impetus to rethink production and the materials employed and to develop creative, helpful ideas.” Express yourself In contrast, the 'graphic + particular' stationery trend has a more modern aesthetic, with graphic colour combinations and geometric patterns derived from modern architecture. Key elements include halftone prints, perforations, lattice structures, prints and collages in mint blue, tangerine, pink, taupe and deep anemone blue, metallic sheens and contrasting black and white.
