VRWorld, an exhibition and conference, gave us a glimpse at what that might look like, with designers manipulating their holographic ideas and mechanics guided by virtual information and instructions. The feature on page 44 rounds up some of the latest business applications of virtual reality demonstrated at the show. As well as helping us do our jobs, the technology of the future will help us to find our way around the workplace. On page 46 we hear from João Fernandes, founder and CEO of BuzzStreets, about how we will all soon be travelling to meetings in self- driving vehicles and navigating office buildings with the help of indoor navigation systems and augmented reality. Bringing us back to the present, we share some more accessible ways that anyone can improve their workspace today – with a simple desk lamp (page 10) or a new whiteboard (page 40). Despite innovations in office technology, it’s certainly not a case of ‘out with the old, in with the new’ when it comes to today’s workplaces.
