Pop up webcam
MMD, the brand license partner for Philips
Monitors, has responded to rising concern over
the security of webcams by incorporating a
pop-up camera in its new line of 22, 24 and 27in
monitors. The camera can be popped up when it’s
needed, then pushed down into the display frame
when it’s not, effectively blocking off a potential
spyhole for hackers. This new feature is available
on Philips 272B7QPTKEB/241B7QPJKEB/221B7Q
PJKEB displays.
The Keyring from wireless charging leader Aircharge enables wireless recharging of any Apple
lightning or Micro USB-enabled device. Just plug the
integrated Micro USB or Apple Lightning connector into your
device and place the Keyring on any Qi wireless charger. It’s
that easy. An accompanying Aircharge Qi locator app provides
details of more than 4,000 Qi charging locations worldwide,
including restaurants, cafés, shops and airports. Keyring
can also be used with corporate installations and personal
accessories like the Aircharge Travel Pad and Executive
Charger.
Voice-controlled mouse
The world’s first Bluetooth mouse with voice command, the Gyration Air Mouse
Voice combines the functions of a voice-enabled presentation remote control,
a motion-sensitive handheld mouse and a high-precision desktop mouse. For
presenters, it not only offers wireless control of a computer from anywhere in the
room, but also the ability to launch tools through spoken commands. For example,
to launch a web browser, you just need to press the microphone key and say ‘web
browser’. Air Mouse Voice is available now for £99.

New from NEC Display Solutions Europe, the MultiSync EA245WMi and EX241UN
24-inch ultra-narrow bezel desktop displays feature built-in Low Blue Light Plus
technology, which protects users’ eyes without compromising the colour quality
of the displays. Both models are TCO Certified and environmentally designed with
minimal hazardous material content.
Hybrid power systems
CCL Components, a distributor of renewable energy
systems and solutions, has developed a portable
hybrid power system for use alongside, or in place
of, existing power generators. Developed for remote
locations and grid-restricted areas, the Powerplus
portable battery system has big advantages over
conventional power generators, including cost savings
of 30-50%, reduced noise and air pollution and
lower maintenance requirements.With the ability to
accept solar input, it can even be used as a fuel-free
generator.
Stylus with a twist
Bamboo Omni is a fine-tip stylus that
works instantly on most iOS and Android
touchscreens, with no app pairing required. Just
twist the stylus to turn it on and you’re ready
to work. The 1.9mm tip uses Reflective Electro
Static (RES) technology and is charged via USB.
