28 01732 759725 We’ve recently announced our European expansion – we can now deliver services across Europe from our base in Amsterdam and we’ve already delivered site-wide fibre and CCTV installations for European clients, as well as a network refresh for a government body in France. We had always dreamed of providing technology and IT support further afield, so this is an exciting opportunity. While the chance has come around quicker than we imagined, we are thrilled to have the operational and delivery capability to help fulfil our customer’s needs overseas. Another example is where a customer, who initially didn’t engage Simoda for cyber security, was hit by a ransomware attack. Our service delivery team worked tirelessly to restore systems and minimise downtime, ensuring business continuity under immense pressure. This experience reinforced the importance of proactive security measures and demonstrated our ability to respond when it matters most. It’s why we’re passionate about offering services like cyber security audits, awareness training and market-leading solutions to help businesses stay protected and resilient. We also recently supported a fast‑growing SME in migrating its entire infrastructure to a secure cloud environment. This wasn’t just a technical project, it involved strategic planning, compliance alignment and user training to ensure a smooth transition. The results were improved scalability, enhanced security and a platform that supports their ambitious growth plans. These wins share a common thread – they’re about more than technology. They’re about trust, collaboration and delivering solutions that make a tangible difference to our customers’ businesses. That’s what drives us every day. If our customers win, we win. TR: Where is business proving most difficult? DB: The sheer pace of technological change is a challenge. New vendors and solutions appear almost daily and it’s our responsibility to evaluate them thoroughly. We only recommend technologies that are both technically and commercially viable, ensuring they deliver real value for our customers and align with Simoda’s high standards. One of our biggest challenges isn’t just Pilling and his team, JHR Developments – a partnership that offers plenty of opportunities to host customers on race weekends. Here, Managing Director Daniel Bumby gives his view from the channel. Technology Reseller (TR): How’s business? Better or worse than 12 months ago? And how confident are you about the future? Daniel Bumby (DB): Business is more stable now than it was 12 months ago. Over the past year, we’ve navigated significant changes, including a refresh of our board and a restructuring of the commercial sales team. These changes have strengthened our foundations and positioned us for growth. Looking ahead, we’re extremely confident about the future. Technology is now at the heart of every business decision, and our consultancy-led approach means we’re perfectly placed to help customers harness transformative technologies such as AI. This isn’t just about adopting tools – it’s about building strategies that deliver measurable outcomes. TR: In what areas are you experiencing strongest demand? DB: AI is undoubtedly the headline topic, but the real value – and the real demand – lies in the frameworks and governance models that make AI work in practice. Organisations aren’t just asking what AI can do, they want clarity on how to implement it responsibly, securely and in a way that delivers measurable outcomes. Beyond AI, we’re seeing a significant surge in requests for technical support and managed services. Skills shortages across the market mean many businesses are struggling to maintain resilience and keep pace with change. That’s where trusted partners like Simoda step in – bridging capability gaps, strengthening operational continuity and enabling customers to focus on growth rather than firefighting. TR: What recent wins are you most proud of? DB: We’ve had many successes, but a few really stand out because they reflect both our technical expertise and our commitment to working in partnership with our customers. The last 12 months have been a year to remember for Sheffield-based technology and managed services provider Simoda, winner of the Best Overall Business at the Action Coach Growth Awards 2025. As well as record growth of 35%, the 42-person company has realised a longheld ambition and expanded into Europe, initially to support existing clients with a European presence but ultimately to create a new market for its broad product and services offering. This includes IT managed services, cyber security, network services, CCTV & door access solutions, communications & connectivity, AI and IT Infrastructure services. From a base in Amsterdam, Simoda has already delivered network refresh and fibre and CCTV installations for clients in Europe and next year this continental operational and delivery capability is expected to add an extra 5 to 10 percentage points to the company’s UK growth forecast. In support of its growth trajectory, Simoda, founded in 2019, recently strengthened its leadership with the promotion of three staff members to the Board of Directors. These are Christian Colton, Network Services Director; Simon Flint, Finance Director; and Kate Hill, Commercial Director. Simoda is also continuing to support Sheffield F4 racing driver Rowan CampbellWith Daniel Bumby, Managing Director of Simoda View from the channel INTERVIEW Daniel Bumby
