TR: Where’s the next big opportunity for Acronis and its partners? RM: We see a substantial opportunity in the realm of cloud-based cybersecurity services and data protection solutions and aim to empower our partners to navigate this digital landscape securely, offering advanced technologies that anticipate and counter emerging threats. TR: What can we look forward to from Acronis in 2024? RM: More innovative products and services, as we reinforce our position as a leader in the cyber protection industry. Without giving too much away, look to Acronis for advances in data protection, artificial intelligence integration, and a continued commitment to address the evolving needs of businesses in an increasingly digital world. TR: Did you get into IT by accident or design? RM: By accident. I am a Chartered Accountant by training but was always motivated and inspired by excellence in customer service and technology. Wherever I worked, I wanted to be involved in the core of the business and was consistently drawn to roles that involved interaction with sales teams. Eventually, I was offered a role in Account Management by a good friend who was MD of a Service Provider in the UK. TR: What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? RM: I have received so many great pieces of advice over the years, like always keep learning and be coachable, but I don’t think you can go wrong by focusing on your customers and giving them the best possible experience. TR: Have you ever had any embarrassing moments at work? RM: Plenty. Only this weekend I was trying to reach a friend who was late for an event and called a partner with the same name, remonstrating with him for being late and asking where was he... He asked me if I had the right person... I said yes... Then I checked again. It’s usually things like that. Nothing serious, thankfully. TR: What is your favourite quote? RM: Gary Player: ‘The harder I practice, the luckier I get.’ TR: What’s on your playlist at the moment? RM: U2, Bruce Springsteen, Simple Minds and Matt Redman. If the kids have access to my phone, Taylor Swift usually gets on there as well. TR: What’s the most used app on your phone? RM: Strava, Zwift, Peleton, or a smart home app. TR: How do you like to spend your spare time? RM: Any spare time I have is usually spent taking kids to football practice, football matches, netball or drama. When not doing that, I like to go for a bike ride or a run. If time is short, I’ll make do with a quick session on Peleton or Zwift. TR: What have been your business highlights of the last 12 months? RM: Over the last year, Acronis has experienced significant growth in its market share, driven by successful product launches, notable customer wins and our focus on the acquisition and management of strategic partnerships. Our partnership approach to Service Providers is key to our success and we consistently focus on improving our offering and developing resources to help our partners grow and succeed. This year, for example, we have launched an innovative new EDR solution for MSPs and, only last month, a new development framework, the Acronis CyberApp Standard, that MSPs and ISVs can use to build their own applications for integration with the Acronis platform. 60 seconds with...
