Nick Powell, Owner, Kiss Less Frogs Ltd Nick is a highly experienced Telecoms industry leader having held senior positions in Cable & Wireless, TTB and most recently Sky, where he set up the Sky Ethernet business. He now runs his own consultancy, Kiss Less Frogs Ltd, bringing the right people from the industry together to deliver better results, faster. Phil Reynolds, Chairman and Director, Oak Innovation Phillip Reynolds is Chairman and Director of Mobile Apps at Oak Innovation, the call recording company. He started his computing career in 1976, working on ICL, IBM and Honeywell mainframes, before progressing to IBM PCs when they launched in the early ‘80s, since when he has developed many innovative and market-leading telecoms products. He cofounded Oak Telecom, now Oak Innovation, in 1991, and was CTO until 2018 when he passed on the role to his son, David. Phillip now works on personal projects, including wellness and fitness apps, while continuing to support the team at Oak. CHAIRMAN OF THE JUDGES Adrian Barnard Adrian is an award-winning TMT & ICT entrepreneur with a respected track record in building, exiting and running companies in the £1m to £50m range. A well known commentator and face of the industry for all things TMT, Adrian is currently involved in several successful UK Tech start-ups and high-level lobbying for the TMT sector. THE JUDGING PANEL Edward Armitage, Independent, IT Services Having co-founded an IT services company before going on to create – and successfully sell – his own managed services business, Edward understands what drives founders and shareholders and what it takes to transform a business you love into a business that others desire. Matt Atkinson, Founder & Consultant, Utelize Matt’s a Founder & Consultant working with innovative service providers and technology firms to deliver next generation networks and mobile technologies to large businesses. He founded and successfully built and sold telecoms software and reseller billing specialists Aurora Kendrick James (AKJ) to Alternative Networks, before founding Utelize, a partner-focused managed mobility services provider operating in the large corporate sector. He’s also working with ComputerAid on a programme to encourage large businesses to donate unwanted mobile phones and laptops, with the proceeds being used to build solar-powered digital classrooms and community hubs in the poorest regions of the world. Ian Trim, Sales Director, QD Tech Ltd Over the last 30 years, Ian Trim has gained extensive proficiency in the IT sector, with specific experience in the provision of integrated IT systems, cloud computing services, IT resourcing and IT support, all of which involves developing and building long-term customer and account relationships. Ian has a proven ability to adapt to and keep pace with industry developments and position leading-edge technological solutions to meet customers’ current and future requirements. Invariably, this involves working in collaboration with customer stakeholders and QD Tech’s highly experienced Technical Services Consultants in the provision of turnkey IT solutions. Before joining QD Tech Ltd, Ian held senior roles at CCE and Bell & Watson, acquired by US technology firm Microage. When not working, Ian enjoys road cycling, gliding and, when possible, skiing. Meet the judges Frances Weston, Managing Director, Econocom North America, UK & IRL Frances is the Managing Director for Econocom North America, UK & IRL and has more than 15 years’ experience in the banking industry. In her role as Managing Director, Frances focuses on rolling out strategic planning initiatives, achieving specific growth targets and delivering as-a-service solutions. Prior to joining Econocom, Frances was Director - Head of UK & Offshore Corporate Investments at Barclays. Frances joined Barclays in 2011, having previously spent time at Scotia Capital and Bloomberg Tradebook. Thanks to her extensive experience within the finance industry, Frances is also Head of EMEA Advisory Council to the Board of 100 Women in Finance.
