In a 5G first, he guided the autonomous car around the track using a combination of a Designated Driver teleoperation system, the new Samsung Galaxy S10 5G phone and a Samsung VR headset, all enabled by Vodafone’s superfast 5G network. Max Taylor, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, said: “Vodafone’s 5G network provides speeds up to ten times quicker than 4G and super low latency, which is critical for this application, where an instantaneous response time is crucial.” www.samsung.com/uk www.vodafone.co.uk 5G first for Goodwood RPA world’s fastest growing software segment Robotic process automation (RPA) software is now the fastest growing segment of the global enterprise software market, according to a new report from Gartner, Inc., Market Share Analysis: Robotic Process Automation, Worldwide, 2018 . Following worldwide revenue growth of 63.1% in 2018, the research organisation expects RPA software sales to increase from $846 million to $1.3 billion in 2019. Fabrizio Biscotti, research vice president at Gartner, said: “The RPA market has grown, driven by digital business demands as organisations look for ‘straight-through’ processing. Competition is intense, with nine of the top 10 vendors changing market share position in 2018.” The top five RPA vendors controlled 47% of the market in 2018 (see table), but their position is far from guaranteed, as the sixth and seventh ranked vendors both achieved triple-digit revenue growth last year. According to Gartner, the biggest adopters of RPA software are organisations with legacy systems, such as banks, insurance companies, telcos and utility companies. The three main reasons to outsource software development work overseas are to gain access to skilled teams (67%), to save time on recruitment (40%) and for more efficient project management (28%). Almost two thirds of the 3,000 businesses surveyed have used engineers in Eastern Europe, including the Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania.
