Technology Reseller - v10
01732 759725 NEWS : RESELLERS 18 CPR training for Midshire staff Last month, as part of its corporate wellness programme, full service technology reseller Midshire held three Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training sessions at its Stockport office. Training for 65 Midshire employees was provided by the British Heart Foundation, which supports 1,700 CPR training schemes nationwide. Natalie Bunyan, Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “Our schemes teach people to recognise when someone is experiencing a heart attack or cardiac arrest; how to do CPR; and how to help someone who is unconscious or choking. Our short-term goal is to create a nation of lifesavers by 2020.” Each year, over 30,000 people in the UK experience cardiac arrest outside the relative safety of a hospital. Of these, only 1 in 10 survives. Midshire Operations Manager Debbie Wilson said: “At Midshire we try to promote a healthy lifestyle for all of our employees. Being able to perform CPR is a vital skill, particularly for those with children or elderly relatives.” On May 20, a number of Midshire employees are taking part in the Great Manchester Run to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and to fund the company’s own office defibrillator. Midshire was acquired by Sharp Electronics Europe in 2017. https://www.bhf.org.uk Technology and digital transformation consultancy Gibbs Hybrid is expanding into the North American market where it is targeting turnover of $50m within two years. Onecom CEO Darren Ridge said: “I would like to congratulate Ollie on this win, which is thoroughly deserved. As one of the area’s leading technology employers, we are proud to offer an apprenticeship training programme that delivers real career progression for young people. Many teenagers are looking to get real-life experience and training in the workplace and this scheme allows them to do that and quickly step up the career ladder.” Farida Gibbs Daisy Group launches GDPR storage solution IT and communications provider Daisy Group has launched a new storage solution that has the potential to transform how businesses manage GDPR compliance. Wisdom GDPR Check & Protect provides a secure data storage solution and simultaneously performs document lifecycle management functions to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The solution carries out four main functions – Check, Import, Transform and Manage. It searches, analyses and reports on all data stored on servers, network drives, shared drives and desktops. Then, selected data can be imported into the system where files can be identified, classified, de-duplicated and have GDPR- relevant retention policies applied. Danielle Price, Head of Sales at Daisy Wisdom, said: “We have produced a solution that will assess, cleanse, manage and dispose of data in a manner that complies with GDPR, without those in the business having to be experts themselves, or having to undergo system training. It really does cover all aspects of data storage and is ideal for businesses that hold sensitive data.” https://daisygroup.com/product/gdpr- check-protect/ • www.daisygroup.com A company of volunteers Business services specialist Commercial has increased the number of work-days set aside for volunteering from 30 to 300. Under the new scheme, each of the firm’s 300 employees can use one work- day per year to do voluntary work for their favourite charity or good cause. To visualise the impact of volunteering, Commercial has placed the image of a tree outside one of its meeting rooms. Every time someone completes a day of volunteering, they’re given a leaf to name and stick on the tree. On June 28, Commercial is hosting a CSR Day in Cheltenham. This year’s speakers include Wayne Hemingway and Ed Gillespie. Further information is available at www.csrday.co.uk . A team of nine employees from the Cheltenham head office recently spent a day at the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Evesham where they helped out by cleaning, making toys for the dogs and playing with puppies.
