01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Mark Ash, Chief Revenue Officer, Konica Minolta 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? Supply chain challenges – tsunami, floods, COVID impacts, port closures, raw material shortages, lack of containers etc. it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Where do you see the next big opportunity? The next big opportunity for us is around integrating business analytic services into existing customer contracts. These range from simple dashboards giving valuable insights, through to full outsourced management using AI to help customers deliver on business goals. What would make your day job easier? A period of stability around the global supply chain. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? “When someone doesn’t make the decision that you want them to, it’s because you haven’t given them enough information.” This puts the onus on you, takes away ego and is a can do statement. What was your first job? A Support Specialist for Xerox, working in Service Delivery Xerox at Virgin Atlantic and Amex. What would be your dream job? I’m very happy where I am and prefer living in the moment, rather than wishing my life away. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? Definitely fine dining. COVID has robbed us of foreign travel and I’m heading back to Abbaye de Tailloires in Annecy as soon as life gets simpler! Favourite holiday destination? The Alps - fantastic scenery, food, wine and people. What’s not to like? How do you like to spend your spare time? Cycling, running and watching my sons play hockey and rugby. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it? Possibly one of the hardest questions I’ve ever been asked as a petrol head. If you would be kind enough to close the roads – I’d take Majorca in a McLaren Senna Gtr. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? Nothing – I used to have a list of things, then I listened to Mo Gawdat (former Chief Business Officer for Google X and author of the book Solve for Happy) and realised I am the sum of all of the experiences, both good and bad. Look forward, not backwards. Describe your most embarrassing moment. When I was younger, I was incredibly shy and couldn’t bear to be in the spotlight. I had a traffic nightmare and ended up walking in late to a company kick off meeting. The MD stopped the meeting and made a point of highlighting me to the entire audience, which was compounded by the fact that there were no seats left and I had to sit in the aisle on the floor for the duration – mortifying.
