01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Elise McFarlane, Product Portfolio Marketing Manager, Field Service Division, ECI Software Solutions 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? I think it is safe to say that the pandemic is having the biggest impact on our business as it has an influence on almost everything, including our customers. Where do you see the next big opportunity? In terms of the next big opportunity, again, I think the pandemic can give us that if we want to think of it as having a silver lining. We can reflect on what is working well for us and what isn’t. It has certainly led to the rapid digitalisation of many businesses, across different industries, as we see our customers have a renewed focus on streamlining their operations to gain better visibility and control. What would make your day job easier? More hours in the day! What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? I think the best piece of advice I have been given is to maintain high standards and keep striving for whatever target is in front of me. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? I don’t believe in regrets, so I have to say I would not do anything differently. Everything has led me to where I am today. Describe your most embarrassing moment. I don’t embarrass easily so I really can’t even think of the last time I felt embarrassed. What was your first job? My first job was having a paper route as a kid. My first corporate job was selling advertising space. Do not hire me for cold calling – I was terrible! What would be your dream job? Tough question – all I really know is that I love what I do now, so something in marketing but beyond that I am not sure. Favourite holiday destination? My partner and I both love Scotland. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? Curry and a pint! How do you like to spend your spare time? I love to be outside, hang out with my friends and family, reading and spoiling my two dogs. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it? A late 80s or early 90s Toyota 4Runner. I would love to drive across Canada and see as much of it as I can. Elise McFarlane
