Despite there being a light at the end of the tunnel with promising developments on the COVID vaccine front, the reality is that social distancing measures are still in place and unlikely to be lifted anytime soon. So, we’ve re-designed our inaugural PrintIT Awards ceremony. Whilst we can’t get together in person on February 11, we can still connect and celebrate in style – we’ll be streaming the event and you can enjoy it with family, friends and colleagues, from your offices or your homes (page 24). Part two of our print predictions feature is on page 42. This time, a number of channel vendors and distributors share their thoughts on what 2021 will hold for the print and IT sectors. There is a common train of thought that remote working will continue and that opportunity knocks for the channel across shorter term contracts, more flexible ‘as a service’ offers and ‘distributed’ managed services. Quocirca Director Louella Fernandes, says that 2021 will be the year when industry players will be forced to capitalise on opportunities beyond printing. She argues that the office print industry has been plunged into a perfect storm. COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation and speeded the shift to the ‘less-paper office’, which means that standing still is no longer an option (page 46).
