01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Rod Tonna-Barthet, CEO, Kyocera Document Solutions 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? Process digitisation and the rapidly changing customer engagement strategy. We are seeing process optimisation and digitisation accelerating throughout all organisations resulting in the need for our products and services to evolve from a hardware-based provision to a solutions and consultancy offering. This is necessary to ensure you continue to add strategic value to your client base. All Kyocera Document Solutions’ investments are based on ensuring we continue to broaden our product and service offerings to help our clients evolve their business through the provision of consultancy and technology which delivers IT services, communications and content services in addition to traditional print services. Where do you see the next big opportunity? The continued migration of services into the cloud and being served back to clients on a ‘per use’ basis. This is overlaid with the impact that 5G will have on mobile data consumption and the opportunity that moving traditional services (such as print etc.) which were historically on-premise-only solutions, into a more dynamic, consumption- based, cloud solution. It is for this reason that we are investing heavily in our people and infrastructure relating to the above mentioned services. What would make your day job easier? Teleportation! On a serious note, I think the development of simplified unified communication and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams is enabling far easier face to face interaction between people (either internal or with customers) across multiple locations. This will change the dynamic of how people work and make organisations think more deeply about the real estate infrastructure of their organisations. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? Keep it simple and have passion for what you do. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? I would have bought last week’s winning lottery ticket! Describe your most embarrassing moment Having forgotten my PE kit at school when I was 12 and being made to play rugby in my underwear! I had a pretty evil PE teacher.
