01732 759725 12 BULLETIN Reliable and highly recommended BLI has recognised five Kyocera TASKalfa devices – (2553ci, 3253ci, 4053ci, 6003i, 6053ci) as reliable and highly recommended. In tests conducted in Buyers Lab’s US test lab, all five multifunctional printers scored 10 out of 10 in terms of reliability and 9 out of 10 in terms of security. The devices excelled in several areas such as scan and copy speeds; above- average maximum paper capacity; and reliable, high-quality output. Furthermore, these devices were distinguished for their easy-to-use web user interfaces; Kyocera’s HyPAS Platform which enables users to connect to specialised and embedded applications; and the ability to print from anywhere with mobile printing support for both Android and Apple devices. kyoceradocumentsolutions.co.uk 500th milestone in total shipments Total unit shipments for Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel series have hit 500. Jon Pritchard, Business Unit Leader of Industrial Print, said: “Konica Minolta entered the digital label press market in 2016 and quickly hit the milestone of 500 units sold. We drove the growth of the overall digital label press market by creating a new market of the mid-range digital label press. Last year, we had one of the largest shares of the global market. This has been achieved by widespread support from customers for the AccurioLabel series as a solution to various issues faced by the label printing industry, including the growing demand for small to medium print jobs with fast delivery.” www.konicaminolta.co.uk IDC recognises Canon In its latest analysis of the worldwide high-speed inkjet press market, market intelligence provider IDC has positioned Canon as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide High- Speed Inkjet Press 2019-2020 Vendor Assessment report. The report recognises Canon’s comprehensive range of high-speed inkjet production printers incorporating both continuous feed and sheet fed platforms; its complete direct sales force to cover all global regions; and its high levels of expertise in not only installations and support but services and business development. Noting that: ‘Canon has strengthened its position in its core markets of transaction and corporate/large enterprise print while expanding out into the graphics and commercial printer space,’ the report also references Canon’s objective of wanting to be the pathway to digital for the still largely untapped analogue/offset market. www.idc.com Industry-standard security benchmarks HP Inc. has announced its commitment to driving more stringent industry standards for printer security and has joined the Buyers Lab Security Validation Testing program for MFPs and printers. The BLI initiative was designed to verify printers that pass through their program are equipped to combat the increasingly sophisticated threat landscape. As an inaugural participant of the program, HP has passed the first two rounds of testing and earned the Security Validation Testing seals for Device Penetration and Policy Compliance for its HP FutureSmart v4 Enterprise firmware platform, which is available on HP Enterprise and Managed printers and MFPs. The Policy Compliance test also validated HP’s ability to specify desired device security settings, save settings as a policy, apply the policy across a fleet to help ensure devices comply, and manage compliance and automated remediation of new or misconfigured devices. HP is the first OEM to pass the test for device penetration and is the only OEM to pass the second test for Policy Compliance. “Our decision to engage in this testing program is driven by our desire to help raise the bar for the entire industry,” said Tuan Tran, President, Imaging, Printing and Solutions business, HP Inc. “We believe more can and should be done to mitigate security risks. This is an important step in driving more stringent industry standards for IoT devices, like printers, and pushing our industry to a higher standard. We encourage all our industry counterparts to join in this effort.” www.hp.com Performance guarantee certification 3M has certified the Canon Colorado 1650 and its UVgel 460 ink with its 3M Performance Guarantee. 3M put UVgel 460 inks to the test on a wide range of its media. This certification proves that applications printed on the Colorado 1650 in combination with 3M’s approved media achieve the highest quality standards. The Colorado 1650 printer is a roll-to-roll printer featuring a flexible, yet robust ink set and FLXfinish, a new approach to LED curing which allows the user to choose between matte or gloss modes for each individual print. This means customers can achieve different aesthetic finishes without the need to change inks or media. Canon has worked closely together with 3M on securing the quality and performance of UVgel prints on a broad range of 3M media. www.canon.co.uk Double acquisition for Xerox Following the acquisition of Arena Group at the beginning of this year, Xerox has completed two more deals, acquiring Altodigital and ITEC Connect.
