PRINTITRESELLER.UK 33 WHAT'S NEW Enhanced scan efficiency and security Kyocera has announced the launch of a further three new products within its TASKalfa range: the TASKalfa 358ci, TASKalfa 408ci and TASKalfa 508ci. These latest MFPs include state of the art scanning technology and enhanced security. A brand new document processor means that up to 170 images can be scanned per minute, with a staple detection and double-feed detection units, making life much easier when scanning stacks of paperwork and documentation. Secure Boot technology ensures that only authorised firmware is deployed whilst the Trusted Platform Module guarantees encryption for image data and certificates, so scanning is not just efficient, but safe. The devices have also been designed with a focus on creating a user-friendly experience, with a new user interface that emulates tablet functionality. Remote panel support enables firms to have troubleshooting checks and routine processes carried out externally, thanks to the implementation of Kyocera Fleet Services. This means that organisations do not have to worry about visits from technicians allowing for almost instant checks to resolve basic problems and avoid unnecessary delays. kyoceradocumentsolutions. co.uk Brother invests in new range of document scanners Brother UK has strengthened its document scanning range with three new mobile devices as the company aims to help its reseller partners tap into the growing personal market. The DSmobile range, which includes the DS-640, DS-740D and DS-940DW, has been designed to enable users working across retail and logistics businesses, together with those in small and home offices, to reduce their paper use and easily capture, edit and share documents digitally on the move. The new devices operate at speeds of up to 15 pages per minute and integrate with the Brother iPrint&Scan app, which will allow users to scan directly to their smartphone and other mobile devices. Designed with flexibility in mind, the models can scan a wide range of size and materials, from A4 paper documents to receipts and plastic ID cards, directly on to smartphones or other mobile devices using the app. Documents can be smoothly fed-through a high-performance roller system, safely creating a sharp, long-lasting digital record. The duplex DSmobile models – the DS-740D and DS-940DW – provide two- sided scanning capabilities and a U-path paper control system to reduce desk space, where paper is pulled inwards and upwards, forming a U shape, and output above the input tray. Head of Product Management Andy Johnson said: “The new range represents a significant opportunity for the reseller channel with the scanner market set for growth, and these products will allow our partners to take new, competitive models to their customers.” www.brother.co.uk Creating new revenue streams With the launch of the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX range, Canon is evolving its portfolio beyond pure print and scan technology. “We know that customers are increasingly moving towards digital. That’s why our devices aren’t just printers,” said James Pittick, Director of Indirect Sales, Canon UK and Ireland. “Our technology is designed to help partners grow their offering from technology supplier to digital transformation partner, stepping up to evolving customer needs in a digital world.” The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX range is designed to simplify digitising, archiving and retrieving documents. Enhanced high speed duplex scanning cuts out unnecessary admin by capturing information accurately, securely and quickly. The new MFPs are compatible with third-party cloud platforms, including PaperCut, Kofax and now, Concur, creating new revenue opportunities for partners to support integration. uniFLOW Online Express is also embedded in the device. “Today’s businesses have complex hybrid set-ups – balancing legacy, new, on-premise and cloud technology. So we understand that our channel partners need a flexible solution,” said Pittick. “The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX range is designed to overcome compatibility concerns and create an even more attractive, flexible solution to help drive profit.” www.canon.co.uk POS connectivity solution Star Micronics’ SteadyLAN is a unique POS connectivity solution that provides the stability of a cabled LAN connection for iPad POS systems via the standard Apple Lightning cable to ensure continuous network access. SteadyLAN solution offers reliable connectivity with iOS devices and is ideal for locations where Wi-Fi connectivity is not possible or unreliable. It provides direct cabled control of the printer and attached peripherals as well as Ethernet provision to the iPad from the wired Ethernet port of the printer. By simply connecting the iPad to the Star mC-Print printer (mCP21LB, mCP31L or mCP31LB) via the standard Apple Lightning cable, or USB-C for iPad Pro, and connecting the printer to the Internet via a wired LAN connection, the iPad is able to connect to the Internet without Wi-Fi communication. Furthermore, the iPad can communicate with the printer via the Lightning cable and the printer will also charge the iPad. www.Star-EMEA.com Remanufactured toner cartridges Clover Imaging Group’s remanufactured Canon range has been expanded with the addition of normal yield, high yield and extra high yield mono and colour remanufactured cartridges for use in Canon i-Sensys devices.
