Epson achieves EcoVadis Gold Epson has been awarded a Gold rating for CSR by independent assessors EcoVadis for the third year in succession. The top rating, which reflects Epson’s commitment to achieving the highest possible international CSR standards, also acknowledges Epson as being outstanding in sustainable procurement, highlights its excellent achievement in labour and human rights, and for its actions to preserve the environment. The overall results show a 5% increase on the previous year with a significant score increase in labour and human rights, placing Epson in the top 2% for CSR in its industry. EcoVadis’ unique CSR assessment method covers more than 198 procurement categories, 155 countries and 21 CSR indicators. More than 55,000 companies work with EcoVadis to reduce risk, stimulate innovation and build transparency and trust between trading partners. www.global.epson.com 01732 759725 14 BULLETIN Ricoh commits to renewable electricity Ricoh has further expanded the use of electricity derived from renewable energy sources at production sites. This is part of its participation in RE100 and a commitment to achieving the goal of using 100% renewable electricity across its business operations. Ricoh UK Products Ltd., shifted the source of all the electricity used at its company's facilities to renewable electricity and Ricoh Thermal Media (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. a production site in China, introduced a solar power generator operated under a PPA model. It has started to use electricity via a power generation company that is generated by the 2.8MW solar power generator installed on its rooftop. 20% of its annual electricity consumption will now be from renewable electricity. The initiatives undertaken at these two sites increased the use of renewable electricity by approximately 13.8GWh annually and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 5,000 tonnes. www.ricoh.co.uk CaaB grows by 30% Partner-focused infrastructure (IaaS) provider, CaaB (Cloud as a Business has increased its white-label partner membership by 30% in Q3. The service increases the ability of solely cloud- focused businesses to fulfil client demands quickly and efficiently. www.caab.io Epson reaffirms commitment to COP25 Epson has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Speaking in support of the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25) which was held in Madrid, Spain from December 2 to 13, 2019, Global President Minoru Usui said: “In addition to our eco-conscious products and heat- free inkjet technology, we are combating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in production and across our value chain to help drive a transformation toward a decarbonised future. We have set targets for reducing GHG emissions in our own business activities and across the value chain to achieve the Paris agreement. These targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being consistent with climate change science. I am happy to report that Epson is well on its way to achieving these targets.” www.global.epson.com Aiimi moves HQ to Milton Keynes Data and information management expert Aiimi has chosen Milton Keynes as the new location for its headquarters. The company which employs over 90 people will be moving into its new 10,000 sq ft office at 100 Avebury Boulevard in early February 2020. The new facility will be its corporate HQ as well as the location of its Innovation Hub where the company will host hackathons, design sprints with customers and R&D planning sessions. CEO Steve Salvin, said: “Milton Keynes is an entrepreneurial, innovative and digitally enabled city and we are delighted to make it our new home. We plan to hire a further 100 data scientists over the next three years and being based in Milton Keynes enables us to appeal to talent including soon-to-graduate students from MK:U, the new university in the city with its strong focus on digital technologies.” www.aiimi.com Kyocera selected as supplier in YPO framework Kyocera has been selected as a supplier for four categories in the YPO Technology Hardware, Software and Services framework. YPO runs approximately 100 nationwide frameworks, which all have the objective of providing procurement solutions for public sector organisations and helping them set up or negotiate contracts for a wide range of services. It does this by working closely with leading UK suppliers, and collaborating with other public sector buying organisations. The YPO Technology Hardware, Software and Services framework is valued at up to £200m and is dedicated to the provision of software, hardware and associated services, from the supply of ICT equipment and applications right through to secure hardware asset destruction. The framework is divided into eight lots, of which Kyocera has been selected as a supplier for four.
