Kyocera celebrates landmark Kyocera Document Solutions UK is celebrating 28 years of its landmark Environmental Charter. Created in October 1991, the Environmental Charter has acted as an underlying foundation for all of Kyocera’s business activities, helping to ensure that the business ‘contributes to the advancement of society and humankind’ as dictated by the philosophy of founder Dr. Kazuo Inamori. Earlier this year, the company announced a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, as endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative. 2020 will also see the fruition and sustained ambition of Kyocera’s Target 2020, an initiative that sees the company committed to responsible environmental management with a focus on the following three aims: contribution to the realisation of a low-carbon society; contribution to the realisation of a recycling-based society and contribution to the realisation of a society that coexists with nature. kyoceradocumentsolutions.co.uk Sustainability fuels business inkjet printing According to IDC data, Epson has secured a 56% increase in market share between 2015 and 2019 for business inkjet printing. This success is attributed to the increasing commitment to sustainability seen across Western Europe, as organisations make moves to reduce their environmental impact. In recent research conducted by Epson, nearly half (44%) of European businesses confirmed they are prioritising being more environmentally friendly, while 38% stated they were under considerable pressure to improve CSR performance. Darren Phelps, VP of Business Sales, Epson Europe said: “While CSR is a pressure point for businesses it’s also an opportunity to differentiate from competitors and become more economically efficient. By investing in sustainable technology such as business inkjet printers, organisations are demonstrating their commitment to supporting the planet.” Phil Sargeant, IDC added: “Inkjet has made huge strides forward and the concerns previously held by SMBs and major enterprises around inkjet in the office have been addressed. We forecast that this will continue to drive an increase in total market share to 40% for business inkjet technology in the next five years.” www.epson.eu Brother invests in thermal transfer printers Brother has strengthened its four-inch print portfolio with two new thermal transfer printers as the company aims to help Auto- ID and general reseller partners tap into the growing thermal transfer supplies market, which is set for 6% year-on-year growth in 2020 and 2021.
