The event kicked off with a hard-hitting talk from BHF CEO Simon Gillespie, who spoke about his own experience with Familial Hypercholesterolemia, and thanked everyone for their continued efforts. Professors that benefit from BHF funding at the University of Manchester followed with interesting talks around the science behind their research, and an exciting tour of the laboratories concluded the day. Through its various initiatives over the past 12 months, Midshire has raised over £7,000 for the BHF. Staff have walked up Kinder Scout with their families, ran the Wilmslow festive 10k, carried out bake sales, organised a Midshire- customer Golf Day, and completed a coast-to- coast-and-back static bike ride of 290 miles. www.midshire.co.uk Charity skydive raises over £2,000 EBM founder Mick Bailey and Customer Care Representative Leon Bunn completed a skydive from two miles above ground, raising over £2,000 for Mind and Papyrus, two charities supporting those struggling with mental ill health. After the jump, Bailey said: “What an experience! I was pretty nervous before we went, but absolutely loved it. And it’s even better to know we helped such great charities.” Bunn added: “Amazing! It was really great to challenge myself and raise money for a charity that I feel passionate about.” www.ebmltd.co.uk (l-r) Simon Whapshott, Robin Newton, Nick Brown and Mark Garius Annodata has renewed its sponsorship of the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF), the charity helping young people to unlock their potential in sport. With a longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility, Annodata’s support will help to further GSF’s mission of supporting some of the UK’s top athletes as they go for gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Since its inception in 2008, the Foundation has provided over 16,000 athlete award bursaries totalling over £11 million of support to talented individuals including Tom Daley, Anthony Joshua, Susie Rodgers, Michael McKillop, Louis Rolfe and Lutalo Muhammad. In total, 23 medals were won at the Rio Olympic Games (eight medals) and the Paralympic Games (15 medals) from a group of 45 athletes who received support from the Foundation. Annodata Marketing Director Joe Doyle, said: “We’ve been an active supporter of the GLL Sport Foundation since 2015 and we are delighted to continue our relationship with them. The UK punches far above its weight on the global stage when it comes to sporting success and we have a great deal to be proud of, but still too many young people are locked out of meeting their potential due to lack of funding. The GSF aims to change that and offers thousands of athletes every year the funding boost they need to propel their sporting careers. That is why we are delighted to continue our support for the GLL Sport Foundation and look forward to seeing what their talented athletes can achieve at Tokyo 2020.” James Jebb, National Manager at the GLL Sport Foundation, added: “A lack of access to funding is one of the main barriers facing young people looking to break into sport, and our work to address this funding gap wouldn’t be possible without support from companies like Annodata. Annodata is a long-time supporter of the GSF so we are extremely pleased that they have renewed their sponsorship at a time when many of our athletes are limbering up for the next Olympic Games.” www.annodata.co.uk Annodata throws its weight behind the GLL Sport Foundation
