There are so many initiatives that our employees get involved in it’s hard to narrow them down!” James Turner: “To make sure our employees are giving back to the community, they are encouraged to make company funded donations to a charity of their choice. However, to see the real life impact of their actions, employees are further encouraged to actively participate in charity activities, allowing Y Soft to donate larger amounts to local communities.” Sam Johnson: “Our employees get involved in lots of different ways, from contributing a friendly helping hand, and sharing their technology expertise, to raising money through fitness and endurance challenges. It’s all about enabling them to help causes and charities they’re passionate about. “In the last financial year, our staff helped to raise more than £38,000 for a number of fantastic charities. They also gave more than 3,900 hours of their time towards volunteering initiatives, many of which were spent supporting local charities and organisations. “For example, the attack on Manchester Arena in May 2017 was an event that impacted people across the city where our headquarters is based, and where many of our staff work and live. Its aftermath saw people come together to support each other and remember the 22 who sadly lost their lives. Spontaneous memorials appeared across the city and thousands of ordinary people left their own tributes, including letters, drawings and poems. “One year on, when we heard that these tributes were going to be digitised and preserved for a permanent archive at Manchester Art gallery, our staff reached out to help, donating digital scanners to the project, as well as free support from our team. “We’re also huge fans of the work done by The Grafton Centre in Hyde, a community-run health and wellbeing centre close to our Manchester base that hosts groups and classes for local people, on everything from musical theatre to yoga. Our colleagues have volunteered 26 hours of their time during the last year, supporting the centre by organising a summer fair and Christmas lunches, as well as designing promotional posters and delivering training on how to use social media.” Carlo Longhi: “At Xerox, we believe a combination of financial and human resources can bring about greater change than either on its own. This philosophy is perhaps best represented by the Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP). This long-running, grassroots initiative backs the voluntary spirit of our employees with funding support from Xerox. In this way, we’re making the biggest difference in the communities where we live and work. Since the program began in 1974, thousands of Xerox people have rolled up their sleeves and participated in projects that make their hometown a better place. “Outside of the Xerox Community Involvement Program, many Xerox people give their time and talent to a wide variety of causes. In the past, Xerox engineers have mentored FIRST Lego, Tech Challenge and Robotics Teams, teaching valuable technical and life skills to students. Xerox lawyers also provide pro bono work to a wide range of non- profit organisations.” Gillian Anderson: “Our employees are at the heart of our charity activities. From setting up our charity committee in 2015, we have driven change, advanced our conversations and built a culture of inclusion and empathy. Our employees vote for our chosen charity partnerships which means they strongly resonate with the causes selected. As well as our national partnership and the many activities we run each year, there is also the opportunity for employees to opt to support their chosen local charity through our benefits platform. We are constantly striving to do more to support our employees’ needs and where possible balance this with the needs of our local communities.” Our employees get involved in lots of different ways, from contributing a friendly helping hand, and sharing their technology expertise, to raising money through fitness and endurance challenges Carlo Longhi
