A team from environmental consultancy Valpak visited the company to perform an in-depth site audit and documentation review, certifying that of the 133 tonnes of waste produced onsite in the past year, none was sent to landfill. In addition, Brother was commended for its commitment to continual improvement in waste reduction, recycling and diversion. 87.8% of waste produced on site in the last year was either recycled or reused. www.brother.co.uk 10 Sharp donation funds water source in Ethiopia To celebrate the official launch of Skywell, the atmospheric water generator, Sharp Europe has donated £7,500 to charity: water to fund a clean water project. Following in-depth consultations with Canon on options to drive greater operational efficiency with lower running costs, the company invested in an Océ VarioPrint i300. Managing Director, Mike Hughes, said: “As the majority of work Latcham produces is highly personalised, we needed to find a solution that could offer versatility, without compromising quality standards. Before turning to Canon, our print operators were waiting up to 15 minutes before some jobs would start printing, but the VarioPrint has reduced this waiting time to one minute, which we are extremely impressed with.” www.latchamdirect.co.uk Kyocera’s commitment to sustainability recognised Kyocera has received official validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which recognises its commitment to sustainability and environment protection. Comprised of global organisations that encourage environmental action through science- based target setting, the SBTi was established in 2015 to support the Paris Agreement and provides a framework for businesses to set and commit to meaningful targets for emissions reduction. While over 550 businesses have joined the initiative, just over 200 worldwide have had their targets validated, placing Kyocera in an elite group of organisations that have undertaken the highest level of commitment to sustainable business practices and protecting the environment. www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.co.uk Mitie Document Management expand services Mitie Document Management, part of a leading UK facilities management group, is capitalising on the performance of its ImageTrac scanners to expand the services it offers. In addition to digital mailroom and traditional back scanning projects, it will focus on delivering a broader portfolio of solutions to include invoice processing and HR document digitisation. Supplied by Spigraph, which also provides ongoing maintenance and support, the company uses two IBML ImageTrac scanners along with SoftTrac Capture Suite (SCS) software at its purpose-built centre in Birmingham. The investment in IBML scanning technology has enabled the firm to offer fast and cost competitive services to all clients as well as provide headroom for growth. The company expects to double the number of invoices it processes this year – to total over two million – some received on paper which will be scanned, others coming in via email for direct integration into eFlow. www.ibml.com • www.mitie.com
