01732 759725 BULLETIN 6 EBM looks to achieve carbon neutrality in 2020 Witham-based EBM Managed Services has set an ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality in 2020. The firm is taking a three-stage approach to tackling its emissions and has completed the first stage offsetting its carbon emissions from 2018, investing in Quality Assurance Standard approved offset projects that boost woodlands in the UK via CarbonFootprint.com. The next stage is to scrutinise waste and make changes that reduce its overall carbon emissions going forward - from replacing end-of-life fleet vehicles with dual fuel alternatives to sourcing eco-friendly cleaning products and office supplies. Finally, the firm is developing a system whereby they can help clients print greener. Some clients already recycle print cartridges with EBM, but the firm intends to extend this to every customer. It will also begin measuring the CO2 resulting from running print devices, and offsetting it on behalf of clients in a verified project of the client’s choosing. www.ebmltd.co.uk Commercial Foundation programme is a success 80% of the young people who attended Commercial Foundation’s first No Limits programme of the year secured either employment or further education by the time they completed the eight-week programme. According to the Foundation’s Founder, Simone Hindmarch, several factors contributed to this record figure, including significant, recent investment in new premises, equipment, and team by Commercial Group. The programme content was also restructured. “Since our inception in 2015, our mission has always been to change the lives of young people who have struggled with barriers to employment,” she explained. “Many of them come from troubled backgrounds, and most find social or professional situations challenging. With our new, practical based format and our expert job coaches, we are able to guide young people with different levels of learning difficulties.” Commercial initially set a target to support 30 young people a year. Now, with the recent improvements, it has been able to reduce the course time to eight weeks, increase the number of interns from six to 12, and help young people to secure positions even before they complete the programme. www.commercial.co.uk Midshire kicks off neonatal fundraising Midshire staff have raised almost £3,000 for the neonatal units at New Cross and Russells Hall Hospitals who have both given priceless support to employee Chris Astley’s newborn baby James. Almost 150 staff attending a retirement party at West Bromwich Albion FC’s Hawthorns stadium raised the money by auctioning a football signed by the West Brom team. Astley said: “Essentially all I wanted was to do something nice for the neonatal units at New Cross and Russells Hall. They’ve been such a pillar for me and my family. I had no idea that my colleagues and friends would pull through to the level they did, the money just kept going up and up! Incredibly, the winning bidder gave me the football too!” The auction is the first in a long line of initiatives this year aimed to support the hospital and its staff. The firm’s West Bromwich office also aims to raise more money by holding a raffle draw, with prizes including a spa day for two, a tour of the Hawthorns stadium, toiletries, spirits, and a champagne barge experience. www.midshire.co.uk Altodigital extends contract with Wolves Altodigital has signed a new three-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC to manage the Premier League club’s print systems.
