As a personal printer or even in small workgroup this is a versatile entry level product which carries features normally only available with higher priced MFPs. This printer is Windows and Mac and compatible and can connect via network, USB or Wi-Fi. Size and speed This MFP has a small footprint for use on any desk and out of the box set up is quick. The toner is a simple click and slide solution making loading easy. The toner supplied is a ‘starter cartridge’ which does around 700 pages, We recommend buying a larger cartridge with the machine and the standard toner should print around 1200 pages at 5% coverage. The speed of output is as quick as 8 seconds and it has duplex printing. The print speed is a more than capable 34ppm (17ppm duplex) and the quality of output is good at 600 x 600 dpi – we printed out some charts and they looked very good quality. Paper handling The MB2236adw is capable of producing mid-volume print run and copies. The unit has a 250 sheet paper tray, a single sheet feeder and 50 sheet ADF and for scanning, a single duplex ADF. The output tray can hold up to 150 A4 sheets – perfect for printing larger jobs. Connectivity We tested it on the office Cat 5 network and found it quick and easy to set up on the machines in the office. In addition to the networking ability we found it had Wi-Fi as well as useful USB connectivity. The MB2236adw comes with a good selection of drivers which makes this device a versatile desktop partner and very capable for printing from mobiles devices and tablets. The only negative we could find is there is no standard USB port to enable scanning straight to a USB Memory Stick. Consumables The consumables are a nice plus point as depending on how much you print there is a toner which suits your needs – the toners come in 3 varieties: 1,200, 3,000 and 6,000 pages. Ideal for multiple workplaces this product is low cost, has a choice of toners for different budgets and good network capability.
