Faster than the Ri 3000 it replaces, the Ri 1000 delivers greater print quality with enhanced resolution of 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi and supports CMYK plus white ink to ensure dazzling results on fabric of any colour. The Ri 1000’s application flexibility is supported by a new pre-treatment liquid suitable for 100% light polyester and polycotton blends. This opens up greater opportunities for garments and textile products in a number of sectors including sports. Quick operation and production versatility are made easy with the ability to smoothly switch between multiple styles of platens up to 406.4 mm x 508 mm. The Ri 1000’s magnetic mechanism enables the platens to easily snap on and off without the need for additional tools. This flexibility supports continuous production and a wide range of print capabilities from children’s sizes to super wide designs. www.ricoh.co.uk Rugged mobile printers for business Brother UK has launched a new line of rugged mobile print devices, helping channel partners tap into the category’s expected annual growth of 4.8%. Refreshing and strengthening Brother’s RuggedJet range of mobile printers, the new devices feature improved durability and connectivity options alongside upgraded memory and longer- lasting battery life. Brother Product and Solutions Manager, Hassan Masaud, said: “Mobile print represents a great opportunity for the IT channel, with the European market expected to grow to € 450 million by 2021. “The launch of the RJ-4 line represents a significant investment in helping our channel partners take new, competitive models to market and capitalise on mobile print’s potential.” The compact RJ-4230B and RJ-4250WB models are designed to make life easier for field workers, transport and delivery operatives, ticketing assistants, retailers and warehouse workers – allowing them to produce documentation of up to four inches wide on the move. The printers also feature moulded rubber housing, drop test protection of up to 2.1 meters and IP54 certification – meaning devices resist water spray and protect from dust penetration, which can cause damage. Users aren’t locked down to specific types of consumables or brands thanks to a spindle-less media holder, which is also spring-loaded for easy changes of media without needing adjustments. Other key features of the range include a new Mobile Deploy feature, which enables users to update software remotely from any location, reducing device downtime by removing the need to take printers out of circulation. www.brother.co.uk CTERA Introduces industry’s first hyperconverged cloud gateway CTERA Networks has announced availability of the CTERA Edge X Series.
